I have a background in design, so naturally I wanted to design the wedding rings for my upcoming wedding. After describing our design ideas to a few jewelers around Grand Rapids, we were pointed to Metal Art Studio. "They work with more organic concepts" we were told.

Carol and Scott have been amazing through the creation of our rings. In our initial meeting, we told them our budget and they laid out the process and told us what it would cost to fully develop our rings from scratch. We decided on a pebble concept after seeing a ring that Scott, who is the main jeweler and owner, had created for retail sale. After getting our initial design drawings, he cleaned them up and drew options to scale for our review.

We chose an option, suggested minor revisions and then finalized the design. We were even able to select which diamonds we wanted through their supplier's online diamond portal. After we made down payments, Carol and Amy, who handle the customer service side of Metal Art, gave us a timeline of 6 to 8 weeks. My husband purchased an estate ring (for my engagement ring) from a different jeweler in Grand Rapids. He asked them to replace the center diamond with one that was my great grandmother's -- it was a little smaller than the original stone, but had more sentimental value. Well, it turns out the other jeweler totally botched the work -- the stone wasn't level, the bezel was poor, they really did a poor quality job. We took it back to them to fix it and it still looked bad.

I love the unique setting, so I didn't want to just scrap the ring. We brought it to Scott and he fixed the bezel as best he could and leveled the diamond. I can’t begin to describe what a wonderful experience I had with Scott, Carol, and the whole staff. I went in with a vague idea of what I wanted and left with a beautiful design that Scott made reality a couple of weeks later. The custom necklace is a true work of art.
