How fondly do I recall this church of my childhood. I see that the fire escape pole has been removed. I spent many a summer day running up to the 2nd floor and jumping to the pole in abject fear, but not wanting to be seen as chicken, and being so thrilled to make the slide down the pole. I loved Vacation Bible school and Sunday school in the old 2 story parsonage. Crafting God's Eyes made from popsicle sticks and yarn, memorizing Bibles verses, and reading about Jesus and the many wonderful things of the Bible. I especially enjoyed and loved singing the children's songs. The new parsonage was a wonderful experience and I played fort in the hall closet and read many books and comic books while curled on a few blankets and sheets and pillows. My grandfather Armon Lathrop was pastor there in the early 70s. I loved the big, or seemingly big, back yard. He had a park sized, sturdy swing set put in that allowed my nosy sister and I to swing high enough to see if the next door neighbors were in their swimming pool. They were always so generous and kind to us and would invite us over to swim at times. The last memory I have of the church was when my parents, my Aunt Char, my sister and I went there to see my Aunt Karen who had cancer.
