I went there to buy a gun while they were having their Fatherās Day special, found a S&W MP Shield that was half off on the website, went to the store because it was a great deal, spent 45 mins in queue for someone to help me while I watched them help people that got there after me, spent 15 mins waiting for them to find the gun because it was misplaced, went through the whole process of the background check and picking out an alternative because they didnāt have the one I wanted, ended up picking the display model even though it was in stock, just for them to tell me that I canāt use a joint credit card that I share with my girlfriend, which was alright I understood, so I went to the bank and grabbed cash. I went back to cabelaās just to wait another whole hour and go through the whole process again just for the store manager to tell me that I canāt buy a firearm because I did a transfer of funds and that I was breaking āATFā laws by doing so and that they werenāt going to be able to sell me a firearm that day or in the near future, when I asked when the near future was an answer was not given. I called back a few days later to ask about the policy and when I would be able to purchase a firearm from cabelas again and I was told that the policy doesnāt specify when the near future is or when Iāll be able to buy a firearm again, which makes no sense, the store manager there didnāt mind explaining how the policy works or anything. I left the issue alone and went to a local dealer and bought my gun from them instead.
Today I went to buy some accessories and again the website says the item is stock, went to the counter was waiting for my turn, this time their queue wasnāt working or not set up yet, just for them to help someone else again before me, when they attended to me no help was given on trying to locate the item I was looking for instead I was told about how if itās not there they probably donāt have it and that there was no point in someone looking for it, I found the item by looking for it for myself and while I was was looking for it I see the same worker (with the strong smell) help someone else out look for an accessory they couldnāt find either in the same section.
I honestly think this a race thing, both times Iāve dealt with that gun department Iāve been looked at and treated different than anyone else (white people) because of the color of my skin and my race, I strongly feel the discrimination towards me and my girlfriend when weāre there and its shown by their behavior and lack of willingness to help and denial of service.
If you are a person of color I would tread carefully walking into cabelas because you will be looked down upon and treated differently, I donāt believe is the company itself but the people that work there.
Iām not one to play the race card or see the world through color but their actions speak...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLast week Saturday, I needed one thing. I didn't want to be right there when the doors opened so I strolled in around 9:20. I took a quick walk and grabbed my one item. Only one cashier was attending and that lead to a line being made past the sunglasses into the clothing racks. Everyone in front of me had one or two items. Probably in the same boat as me, needing one last thing before going out to the lake or something. I turned the guy attending the sun glasses š¶ļø and ask if he could ring some of us up. He said no he didn't have a register and just went back to leaning against the display case watching the line grow. The slow as snail š line wasn't even moving which is what created the line in the first place. I can hear the cashier giggling " Oh this is fine." I wanted to yell no this isn't fine lady, but I didn't I kept that internal. Well the dude standing behind me must have been in my head and sighed out loud," No this isn't fine lady" I turned around and looked at him, " Exactly šÆ" The 3 workers at the customer service desk are just standing and watching us. What the heck?!? Where is my Midwestern Customer Service? A guy a few people behind me with kids, stops a worker and asks if we can please get someone to open another register. A bit later a lil girl arrives and opens the 2nd cashbox. I ask the dudes in front of me if they wish to move over to be attended since they have been waiting the longest. I'm standing by the pop fridge. They say no go ahead miss. The dude standing behind me says" Come on sweetie let's start a new line." I go over to the other lane and the girl looks so damn bored and doesn't say hello, sorry for the wait nothing! Just scans my again 1 item and then turns her head to look at the young dudes standing in the other lane. I think she thought I was paying with a card. I am now holding my 20 dollar bill to her with her head turned. Nothing like an air head. I then say out loud " Here is twenty doll hairs for you." She whips her head back and takes the cash. She then painstakingly struggles to count out my change. She hands it to me with no words. I grab my change and my bag and now I'm waiting for my receipt š§¾. She stares at me like why are you still here. " Can I have my receipt please." The man behind me is struggling to hold his composure at this point because he has watched this train wreck. I get my paper receipt and throw my bag over my shoulder and haul out of there. I hear the guy behind me tell the cashier he's paying cash too š This was supposed to be an in and out trip. Turned into a loony tune feature. I don't know how soon I'll be back. Might be a while till I can give Cabela's...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent to Cabela's a few days ago to purchase completely new hunting gear for both myself and my husband. We walked around looking for someone to help us for quite a while with no luck. Finally, I resorted to the customer service desk. The guy at the desk was extremely rude to me, rolled his eyes, sighed, and yanked the piece of clothing out of my hand (I was holding the tag, and I was actually cut by the plastic tie because of how hard he ripped it out of my hand). He then used his radio to communicate with someone as to what my question was, and proved to be very unthrilled that he had to deal with my question and actually said " I'm not in the clothing department so obviously.... I'm not sure why she's even bothering to ask me about it, but could you come fix it?" WHAT!? Are you kidding me? A nice girl made her way over to the customer service area, and answered my question, but I was extremely disappointed at this point. After choosing our items and spending over $1400 dollars.... I realized that I purchased he wrong sized vest, and had to go back in and back to the "wonderful" guy at the customer service counter to exchange it. At this point there were 5 people in line ahead of us, and unfortunately, we had to witness this same "gentleman" being unbelievably rude to each person before us in line, as well. There was another lady at the service desk that was helping people that just walked up, not going in line. 30 minutes later, and after watching us and two in front of us get skipped over by at least 5 people that just walked up, I got back up to the counter. Same guy, same insanely rude demeanor.
To top this off, today, I have been trying to call and reach the gun counter for more than 4 hours!!!! I've called at least 15 times and now I've given up. I'm in need of something very specific and unfortunately, they are the only place (or so I thought at the time) nearby that carries it but I wanted to know FOR SURE before driving an hour. They transferred me and hung up on me several times. I was also told that they were too busy to take my call and my options were to leave a message, or call back at a more "convenient time for them." Needless to say, there are other reviews stating the same thing, and quite frankly it's ridiculous. I found another place that was nearby and actually had the time to help me, and ended up spending over $4200 on two rifles, scopes, cases and accessories, and I did it at a different store. If you want any type of courtesy, I recommend staying away from here. If they don't have time to help me, and they blatantly tell me so, then I'm happy to take my money elsewhere. Will not...
