““Premium Retailer” means that a store is not Verizon and the buyer should beware.” - this is a quote from a telephone customer service representative, Verizon Wireless. I was in shock. You see them all over Berkshire county, Wireless Zone Premium Retailer of Verizon Wireless. Most people in South County just refer to them as the Verizon Store.
This is a story about how I got taken by just this store. The story is true, not meant to be inflammatory, and I hope it gets published so others can learn from my mistake. As that phone representative said, “Buyer Beware”. I purchased a phone in the Great Barrington store. It was late and past closing so I didn’t get to review all the details. The associate was rushing me out the door. I asked him,” What if I change my mind…”, he said no problem you have 14 days.
4 days after my purchase I returned to the store with original bag, box intact, and my receipt in hand for a refund. The associate takes my phone wipes in down, and inspects it, He finds a scratch so small, it took me three blinks to see it. “No refund” He told me, “You own the phone now.” I responded, “That could have always been there, you could have made that happen when you just wiped it down.” He retorted, NO RETURN. I was in shock, where was customer service?
Being tossed from the store like a criminal I called Wireless Zone Corporation. They referred me to a Vice President then to a Regional Director, neither had any power because this was a franchise store. So the Verizon store is really a franchise of a dealer of Verizon Wireless. Finally I got to talk to an owner who just told me, “No refunds”.
This can’t be, how could Verizon Wireless let this happen in their name. I called customer care. Their response was, they are an independant dealer and don’t need to follow Verizon Wireless Guidelines. I asked how was I supposed to know there was a difference between stores. The representative said they have, “Premium Retailer” on their sign, and I quote ““Premium Retailer” means that a store is not Verizon and the buyer should beware.” and I am out $650.
I hope my experience is a lesson for...
Read moreI did my upgrade online paid $35 fee all I had to do was go pick up my phone but when I got there I was told the NATIONWIDE SYSTEM was down and they’d have to cancel my order and rerun thru their system after I had already given access to my account and they began the cancellation process they then told me my total today almost $300!!! Attempting to disregard the receipt I had showing I paid the $35 and was only there for in store pick up they kept speaking in circles and attempted to avoid any logical questions I had and continued to act like this was normal and not to worry the $35 would be reimbursed they also tried to tell me I was going to be paying $50 or $60 installments again disregarding my written agreement from the Verizon website the last scheme they tried to pull off was telling me they could get $850 trade in value for my phone that I already knew i was only getting $126 for again off the official website I had already taken care of all this the part that they were leaving out about the $850 was that deal only applies if you switch to select unlimited plans so on top of everything else they were going to take upon themselves to switch my plan these people are con artists their lack of knowledge and predatory practices made me feel like I was dealing with criminals these are not good people someone else could have been taken advantage of I do not believe a single review on here I think they’re paid advertisements because people don’t leave reviews about their phone salesmen like they’re talking about their real estate agent it’s interesting a majority of the reviewers have only left 1 review ever but it’s a heartfelt one about their experience buying a cell phone ALSO went to an official Verizon store not a dealer and turns out there was nothing wrong the NATIONWIDE SYSTEM but I had to speak to fraud prevention before completed my upgrade because of the unorthodox tactics they attempted to pull these people should honestly be investigated I’ll be in contact with Verizon corporate because this...
