I went took the Esthiology program. I went there because I was eventually going to move to California and they are the only school that offers extra hours (WI requires 450, CA is 600) for no extra cost. Long story short, this school is horrible. They just want your money. If you want the full story read below.
It has now been over a year since I graduated from VICI and I have still been unable to get my license. Upon admission to VICI Aveda Beauty Institute I was lied to by Kelly . I have posted my story before but, now it's really causing more issues than I ever imagined. I was told I could take my state boards at the age of 17 without any problems. With only two weeks from graduation it was verified I couldn't take my test until I was 18- six months after graduating. I spoke with the owner of the school who said she could do nothing for me "I was the first case of this." It should have been looked into by the school before verifying that I could take my test. (this wasn't something you could just google) False promises shouldn't have been made to make sure I would pay money to go there. I was just out of high school and at that point I trusted the word of adults. A month after turning 18 I moved and immediately applied to take my test. I gave VICI the fax number to send my proof of training and I was told my information was sent. I called the CA board and asked them to verify the fax went through, a woman I spoke with said that I had to wait 12 weeks to verify. Called just now, 12 weeks later and it turns out VICI NEVER SENT my paperwork. That means I'm going to have to have someone physically go to the school to make sure they are doing their jobs and sending my info. I am still paying off loans and getting nothing out of it. I am worried that because I have had to wait over a year to take my test, I will no longer be able to. This school...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAsked my āstudentā hairstylist if sheād done African American hair before, her reply was āno, but someone will be helping meā, so I was reluctant, but continued because this is a school after all. They will have a teacher guiding them, or so I thought to myself. The teacher didnāt really come around til the half way point where she all ready had my hair kinda air dried and now sheās trying to detangle past shoulder length hair,ā¦.for those that donāt know, most experienced hairstylist do de tangling while conditioning. So needless to say that took a big chunk of time, my scalp felt every bit of it. It wasnāt even fully detangled and she was trying to blow dry, I asked her where her instructor was and had they helped her at all and she replied ā they are short staffedā. Then I knew ,ā¦ā¦. I should have canceled that appointment in the morning like my gut was telling me. The teacher would pop over for half a minute here and there to try to help her but I could already see this could only be fixed by starting all over at the shampoo bowl, and my patience was already running low being in the chair for 2 hrs. At that point. The instructor came over and tried to slick my hair down and it just was not straight as I told him, my hair was stiff , it looked like something I couldāve done better at home , and I canāt do hair! No bump, nothing. I ordered a wash and flat iron, so when I usually tell them that my hair is at least straight, not pooffy. I used to frequent vici when it was one at bayshore mall, and was pleased each time, but after this , I will never go back. The student did her best, but they should of had an instructor that couldāve walked her step by step, from the beginning, and hopefully knew what to do. They didnāt even offer any money off and I expressed my dissatisfaction to them about my hair. Never again. 2.75...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy 17 yr old daughter went in with a picture for reference & was told they couldn't dye her hair because her hair would be impossible to get the color she wanted, her hair was a very faded red almost pink color and the color she wanted was a dark ginger with blonde money pieces and highlights. So disappointed she left. She was very determined to get this hair color so she called for another appointment and this time asked on the phone if could try anything close to her picture and they said they could so she went in again. Again she was turned down because they said her hair would never be able to get lighter than pink or even close because it will fall out, the lady showed me a test strand pulling as hard has she could at the very ends of her hair, which was at that point was only breaking from the force & even then barely. So we left & decided I would try to do it myself. We went to sallys , I asked the workers there for a few tips and I did it. Unprofessional in my dining room in 3 hours. & the bleach lifted her hair to a very light orange/pink with no hair falling out, we toned it with purple shampoo and then dyed it the exact color she wanted, it was even colored and all. & then we did highlights that again lifted. Now if I came in 37yrs old asking for that yea I've had years n years if damaging my own hair for all that but a 17yr old whos dyed her hair 3xs ever. I also get this is a teaching salon/school. But I honestly expected more . No attempt, using words like impossible and never but I achieved it without damaging or ruining the integrity of her hair. I feel like a better teaching tool would be to push a student to try. I wish I could post a picture because it turned...
