Had a group of about 10 with reservation.
Opened with a Jing & Hamachi rolls, yellowtail Serrano(the grapefruit, soy combo was tantalizing), Korean fried cauliflower was a hot with the whole group it seemed, and was surprisingly tasty! Ishiyaki Wagyu hot rock, was fire. It's always fun to cook yourself, the slivers were tasty. Heed the direction when delivered. If overly excited dumping soy sauce is a laugh for the table but cools stone faster I think. As rock cools slightly adjust cooking times accordingly.
The Miso Seabass I and I think 3 others had was devine and enjoyed by all noted to be the favorite of one in the group that had been before. The lemongrass Salmon (peanut sauce was highlight) and another salmon on the seasonal menu was great. All seafood was cooked perfectly and flaky. Some others in our group had the wagyu fried rice, lo mein and pad Thai I think. One individual in our party had the sesame chicken noting his go to dish and said they have the best he's ever had. Lastly for entrees, one had the Wasabi lamb chops (someone recommended this to me before going but was feeling fish). Initially the lamb chops came out and had a moment of 2nd guessing my decision, but after tasting the Seabass, decided both are probably incredible and will have to return to find out.
Buddha button is a neat experience, and learned should do at beginning of drink as to bring out the citrus and floral flavor.
Smoked apple butter old fashioned was a hit with the table until one didn't stir the last bit of his drink and got some of the apple butter that condensed.
Desserts shared by the table and decided key lime pie refreshing as expected but the favorite was the Reese's peanut butter pie. Table wasn't as fond of the chocolate but a few did note not chocolate people. Noted will have to try the cheesecake next time.
Louie the staff sommelier was wonderful, giving not only great advice determining a Pinot Noir with light friendly conversation. Louie aided in selecting what was best to suit the table's want and describe clearly, admittedly with my lack of wine knowledge.
In addition to Louie, we had another lady and gentleman tag team wait service. Had a couple minor communication mixups on timing of certain dishes and drinks ordered, but may have been on our group being indecisive I suppose. Nothing unfixable and all was corrected as requested by others.
Ambiance and atmosphere were calm dimly lit light music easy yo have discussion in.
Overall experience and everything tried was fantastic and definitely...
Read moreUnfortunately will not be returning to Jing. After waiting an hour and a half for our spot at the bar, due to my out of state ID, I was given the option to not be served alcohol or have the cops call to verify my ID. When I questioned if this was a real issue, as I have a the government app with my ID associated, and all of my cards in my wallet. Aniessa informed me that if I didn’t stop questioning her she would have security escort me out of the building. After the cops escorted my friend and I out to discuss the fact that the IDs are real and it is now in the hands of the establishment to serve us or not. we returned to see our seats taken at the bar by what looked like a regular. After 5 minutes of back and forth with the gentleman we were able to sit and begin our dining experience. Both managers Anniesa & Ashley were extremely rude. Anniesa was the original manager who spoke to my friend and I with utter disrespect acting as if we were underaged, when in reality we are late 20s with 10+ years in the service industry. And now in industries that dependent on client relations. All to say treating others with kindness and respect Is at the core of any business. Unfortunately for Jing that is not the case for their management. We then asked to speak to the owner Lawrence who apologized in the since that he trains his staff to be stern and this is how he wants management to treat his clients. As I appreciate the transparency and accountability I will not spend my free time & money where I am disrespected. Neither manager made an effort to check on us, apologize for the inconvenience of waiting an additional 30 minutes to begin our dining experience, or for the blatant disrespect of both the situation or tone in voice. Drinks were taken off the bill, food was delicious, bartenders amazing as always. However, I will not be returning because there are many places in Denver with those same qualifications (good food, good drinks) but with staff & management that respect their patrons. Moving forward would suggest kindness & respect in any message delivered to clients, and if Jing wants to act as if they are a nightclub they should invest in scanners so that clients may not have to be berated by management and escorted by police. I have never left a 1 star review on any dining establishment but the disrespect from management was uncalled for and...
Read moreI'm really in the grey about my dining experience here considering we dined on Christmas Eve! They were open, they took our reservation and hence we visited Jing! It was a friends birthday and we were a group of 5. Our friend made the reservation quite in advance considering Christmas Eve! This place has been on my list forever and I'm still not sure if I should give this place another try.
The drinks were good, Me and a friend got the Buddha drink with the buddha button which was a good surprise to the taste buds!
We ordered the electric dragon roll, soft shell crab roll, shrimp tempura starter and lobster starter (forgot the name) in apps and for mains got the ginger shrimp, Thai basil wok and fried scallops! The sushi was good and so were the other two apps. The Thai basil wok was alright and the scallops (my husband makes better scallops at home) Looked very unappetising with large florets of broccoli and almost ketchup everywhere! Couldn't finish it, I think most disappointing dish we ordered.
The highlight of our experience was our server rushing us to order as well as to pick up our plates post dinner. We were never told until we placed our drinks order that the restaurant closes early for Christmas Eve and that we literally had 5 mins to glance the menu - why wasn't this told when we checked in to dine! I don't expect this from a fine dining restaurant. We were rushed to place our dinner orders without enough time to even look at the menu. Same with picking up our dishes. We also had some random lady from the kitchen just throw the sushi plate on our table and go away without saying anything about what we were being served.
I'm sorry JING, I really don't like writing this review but this is how our experience was. The sushi was good and so were the apps but I'm not sure if I will come back again considering the service we received. Also, my friend mentioned while making a reservation that we were coming in for a birthday dinner and nothing!!!! Not even a courtesy happy birthday!
The second star is only because we liked the apps here. Not sure it's...
