Its been a year or so since iv been to newell's, I was a little surprised to see google asked for me for a review, but since they asked.
I would like to start off by saying they have great reviews and your mileage may vary. I'm sure my review means nothing to anyone in the grand scheme of things. but.
Iv spent maybe a few grand in there over the years with cheap guitars, tons of strings lol, and just nik naks over the years. You do get a little bit of that music store cliche feeling, the being rushed feeling. usually when its the kids working, and thats ok, they're kids, maybe dont even know they are doing it.. but when owner started doing it, thats a cause for concern.
but all that i can deal with, i fully believe in shopping local and building those relationships. so i dont mind paying a little more or having to wait a little longer to get something i could order online. you know, you gotta play the game a little bit.
but the nail in the coffin for me was when i called on a monday afternoon looking to see if they had a pedal in stock. the owner said no, but hes putting in a order now for pedals, being someone else was looking for the exact same pedal i was. he said "ill order one for both of you". again, i could buy it on amazon and get it on my doorstep. but i told him to order it and ill be there wed to pick it up.
i go in wed to get the pedal, its not in. no big deal, im not mad at that. the owner said to come back friday, it will for sure be in by friday. no problem at all.... friday rolls around, i go in to get my pedal. the kid looks at me and says we have 1 of those pedals left but we are saving it for the other guy!! they sold my pedal, the pedal i waited, for but saved the other guys pedal.
boom, that store is dead to me. i mean buying things online is too easy to have bad customer service. i get the whole shop local thing, and i do, just at another store or ill drive an hour away to another shop that has better service. i can only think they just didn't want me for a customer for them to do that. no idea. but shops in Anderson and Greenville and Augusta will allow you to play and try out necks without having to ask permission to try a $300 squire or epi . just better stores with better people out there. best of luck...
Read moreFound a bass here that had been long discontinued but was being sold as new. I live out of state so I was not able to play it in person, but I corresponded back and forth with Andy a few times about the instrument and he was always very helpful and friendly.
I ended up purchasing the bass and it arrived safe and sound in a very reasonable amount of time. They had also performed a maintenance checklist on it before its departure, so I could tell that they really care about the shape of their instruments and the satisfaction of their customers. I would definitely recommend doing...
Read moreHighly recommend Newell's, I dealt with Michael on my purchase of a used bass. Unfortunately aside from pictures I wasn't able to see the instrument in person but Michael went over everything with me and they did a thorough inspection of the bass and replaced the strings. When the package arrived it was in a timely manner, very well packaged and was exactly as described. I would not hesitate to purchase from them again. I like that they are not a big chain store and offer service that makes you feel...
