I just wrapped up a visit (again) with this store, trying to resolve the ongoing issue with my wedding band and get a much deserved refund. Long story, but, believe me, this is the short version.
My fiancé and I needed wedding bands for my ceremony early August and the ones we selected for the both of us, the man's ring I ordered, we were told was no longer available... they, on their own accord, decided to substitute with a pair of choices after our first visit where we paid half up front for both. One was not what I described I wanted in a ring... I explicitly said I do not like that and guess what? It was exactly like what I did not want, the other was a close approximation. My wife's ring was too small and they would allow us to use it for the actually ceremony and get hers taken care of, which they did (the only good thing on their in favor here). But, after multiple attempts to get mine taken care of, with a resize down because the one that I eventually accepted (reluctantly) was really too big in practice, it was coming off when washing hands and in the shower, too easily. They said, just take your ring off when you wash your hands or take a shower. Uh, that shouldn't be the case.
I ordered a smaller size and they kept saying it would be coming in... no updates. They ordered a smaller size but it was not the ring I had settled on... I just looked at the sales person and had a dumbstruck look on my face... I couldn't believe it. They said we will call you back by the end of the week and it will be taken care of. No word from them for almost two weeks. So, I order the ring online from the actual vendor and went in today for a refund on the ring purchased. They said all sales are final... which my sale was never final as I never got what I wanted. Add to that the sheer incompetence of the people behind the counter. You talk to them, but then they have to ask their boss to actually get something done and that is the frustrating part... a lag in the system or breakdown in the communication. I pointed out what I want to get in a ring and two times they order the wrong ring for me, wasting two trips to their store only to find out that it is still wrong.
I am leaving out a whole lot of detail here as it has been a multi visit and text ordeal. Add to that the ring that initially wanted they said was no longer available or being produced (King Will Tungsten Carbide with chiseled edges). After two weeks of non communication, I looked it up online and lo and behold, it's available... at 1/6th the cost of this place. Same, exact ring that I initially ordered on my FIRST visit. I understand retail pricing can be higher, but come on. Well, just don't bother.
And, to preemptively respond to any comment from them... your policy of no refunds, only exchanges only works when you get the order / details right. The ring getting resized was because of the ring delivered was a bit loose from the sizing ring used in the store. I just accepted as what I would have to settle for. And it was too late at any rate for anything to change... wedding was in two days and you dropped the ball with not getting it in the timeframe you quoted "oh, it will be here in plenty of time." Getting married on Thursday so need it BEFORE then... no ring. Call them, "Your ring will be here on Thursday."
Jeez, I'm tired just from having to type this up... so, in the end,...
Read moreDo not use these people as repairs. I left one ring and plainly said a hollow spot was on the top and fill it in some and also replace a prong on the stone. I reminded this frigging lady 2 times before I left the store the FIRST day I left it...after this i had to call her 2 times for a price and she said ill call him now so she calls me and says 277.00 I said ok does that include the hollow place on the side she says oh I forgot to tell him I'll call him back now....im thinking how stupid because this is now 3 times telling her about this one place but she calls me back and said the price is 350.00 to include that and I said ok...... i go back to get it and it's still not filled in so I put tape on the ring around the hollow place to be very specific like a 4th grader and she took the tape off and sent me a picture and where her mark was wasn't the place so I called and said I specifically put tape around that one place and allbu could see was that one place t b at needed filled in so who the hell took the tape off and she said she did..... HOW STUPID!!! now she brings it out to me because I've done been there 2 times for the same thing and she even marks that place with a black marker and tells me it will be done Monday after 2pm .. ..I said I work Friday sat and sun 12 hrs each day so I can't pick it up before then and Friday I get a text message saying it's done after she plainly told me Monday after 2pm....I send my husband to go get it Monday and of course that one place I've showed them 4 damn times and the stupid ass even marked it with a black marker is STILL NOT FILLED IN. I dont think she ever took it to her repair man the last time but I will NEVER use these people again and some places was filled in that i NEVER said to fill in ...this was my first time I ever been there and it's the very last!!!!! The two guys that work there are not friendly at all customer service sucks......and the lady must be just plain dumb because after showing them 4 times and beeing VERY specific they still didn't get it right. The lady said the one ring was very detailed and yes it is but if you have a good repair person it doesnt matter how detailed the ring is...I left one other ring and a bracelet for prong repairs and surprisingly they was done correctly but just 3 pieces cost $350.00 just to repair and none of them people ever smiled or said thank you. No manners and absolutely no customer...
Read moreJewelry Discounters is not an ordinary jewelry store. Honestly, the name of the store doesn't do its services much justice, because not only does William's prices come at an extraordinarily reasonable cost, but he does custom-made jewelry and jewelry repairs. Unlike other jewelers, he can create any type of piece you like--right in the store. He has all of the necessary equipment to create anything your heart desires. Most jewelers have to send out to another provider to utilize their equipment to do this type of work (which comes with an added expense to the buyer), but William has everything you need and is more than happy to do the work. I was amazed by how happy and willing he is to work with the customer and design a piece with you at an amazingly low cost.
I brought in my engagement ring last week for him to replicate a wedding band to match and today I picked up the finished product. I wanted the band to match my ring exactly, minus the center stone, so he made multiple molds of the original ring, cut out the larger, center stone portion and filled in the space with smaller diamonds (which matched the side diamonds on my original ring). The finished product is lovely and looks like it belongs with my engagement ring. My engagement ring was my fiance's grandmother's, from the 1950's and thus had a design which I found hard to find from a regular jewelry store. Every other store I went to told me that to have this kind of work done I'd be ooking at upwards of $1000.00 to create such a custom-made ring. William made my ring at a fraction of that cost.
He spent a long time crafting a ring which would match my original, selected diamonds right in front of me which had the same coloration as my engagement ring's diamonds, and even showed me how he tests his gold (because I was curious). My fiance is going to have a custom wedding band made by him and have me write a message for William to put into his computer program to engrave on the ring. The sky really is the limit with what you can create with William and he is a great guy to work with! I highly recommend you visit his shop for any of your jewelry needs, but especially if you want to make something extra special and unlike just the typical items you can find in a...
