I would like to start this by saying the West Des Moines location is wonderful, the Grimes is HORRIBLE. We were not able to get our dogs into the W.D. so tried Grimes, BIG MISTAKE. When we made the appointment we made it very clear our dog Walter was very shy due to pass abuse, they assured us they would work with him. The Grimes office is nothing like WD., it feels cold and impersonal. When we picked up our dogs Walter was very symptomatic with his anxiety, this did not happen at WD. After two days I called and asked to speak to the manager Sonya who was busy. I voiced my concerns that Walter wad still acting nervous and had a cut on his leg. The receptionist called me back and stated Sonya had watched the video and did not see anything than Walter acting a little shy. She did not have the common cutesy to call me back herself. Later that day I found 4 more cuts on Walter for a total of 5 cuts. Four days after his appointment he started shaking his head, he had ear wax packed so tight in his ear, granted the ear hair on the surface level had been plucked but no one told us about the impacting. Ad I felt this should have been reported I called again and requested to speak to the manager. Sonya from the start of the conversation was defensive and dismissive. When I voiced my concers about the nicks she stated "that can happen". I agreed it can happen but not five times. I expressed if you nick a dog once that is an accident five times is abuse. I advised her the grooming should have been stooped especially when they had been advised he was a shy dog eith a history of abuse. Her only answer was" well that happens". In discussing the ear she completely did not understand what I was saying and kept on saying I needed a letter from the vet stating it was their fault he had ear infections. I advised her at least 5 times I did not blame them for the ear infections rather they should have told us how impacted they were as we could not see this due to the hair. She again repeated the same verbiage. I advised her we were not getting anywhere and I would just put a review on social media. Sonya than stated "you are threatening and blackmailing me". At this point I was so frustrated due to her not taking accountability for cutting my dog and not reporting the ear situation I did call her an idiot. I explained no threats had been made and by the very definition of blackmail I was not blackmailing her. I had not made any request for money which is the principal behind blackmail. I asked at that time for the owners number which Sonya said she did not have but would give me the email. I again requested the owners number which Sonya said "no you called me an idiot" which I agreed I did amd still felt she was an idiot. Sonya hing up. I called the W.D. location explained and advised them a brief description and was advised the owner would contact me. If and when the owner contacts me I will update this review. As of now I would NEVER take my dog to the Grimes location. Sonya clearing was only trying to defend harming my dog and not use this as a learning experience. If you care about your dogs I would not walk away from the Grimes location I would RUN.
EFIT: I did speak to Natsha however her rendition of the conversation was slightly off. For one when I spoke to the receptionist twice and Sonya once at NO TIME was it mentioned Walter snapped, Natasha added this detail just today. During the conversation Natasha not only reported he snapped at the start of the appointment but again at the end of the appointment. When challenged on this as not being truthful and if he snapped twice why was I not informed she replied "groomers are use to this". I expressed my concern her report sounded like a lie as this was never reported and as a responsible groomer it is their responsibility to inform the owner of this. Natasha is correct I did not nor do I expect any compensation. What I expected was an acknowledgement that something went terribly wrong and they were sorry. What I got from Natasha was the insinuation my...
Read more$$$$$ I went to this location as I moved and my former groomer is now a 2 1/2 hour drive away. Well, the cut was fine, comparable to my previous groomer, however but my previous groomers (two worked on her at once) charged $35, regardless of my pup had missed a trim or any other concern. If it helps, my dog is a 25 mini-poodle. This groomer charged almost THREE TIMES that. How much would they charge for a full-size poodle, I wouldn't care to consider! So, I might be going back, if I can't find one closer, and my dog desperately needs a cut, but frankly, I think paying $115 (as I gave a $20 tip, which didn't even warrant a thank you) is FAR TOO EXPENSIVE! MAKE SURE YOU ASK HOW MUCH IT WILL COST $$$$ before you set foot in this place. Friendliness was not equal to previous groomer, they weren't rude, just not particularly welcoming to someone who made an appointment in advance, just okay. That said, the cut was definitely as good as my pet's formerly $35 cut for what that is worth. Also, I was impressed that one groomer was able to handle (other than bath, which required help) my groomer reluctant pet. Will try a nearby groomer who charges $40 next time if possible, but in a pinch, might be back, definitely will be prepared to pay dearly for...
Read moreTook my 15 year olds mini aussie Suki (7 months old) for her first groom. I was having anxiety not knowing what to expect and I knew that Suki HATES baths and has super anxiety when it comes to baths and nail trimming. I always end up wetter than the dog when giving baths at home and it takes a lot of treats to do her nails at home. So I was worried she wouldn't cooperate and let them do the mini groom which really really needed to be done. Especially the sanitary trim. Sonia was so amazing. She explained everything at drop off. She did amazing with Suki . She told me at pick up Suki did amazing and no anxiety except just a little bit when it came to the nail grinding. Suki looks amazing. And Sonia did a great job. Loved her communication and how great she did easing Sukis anxiety (and mine lol) so she could do the groom. Will highly recommend and we have another appointment to be back in 2 months. Great staff. Very knowledgeable. Highly recommend Sonia. Prices are great and very reasonable for...
