Bomgaars — Local services in Grimes

Nice garden center outside. Very friendly garden staff outside. I had to take multiple items for a price check because of no price tag. That was very frustrating, the price should be clear on each item.

There was a sign for 4 pack annuals 4 for $1.00 a large 8x11 sign right in the center of the garden tent. We got 8 4 packs total. When I saw them ring up at $2.79, I stated they were posted outside 4 for $1.00. The cashier gave some obnoxious resting B face and basically ignored my statement. I then said that there is a sign posted right outside of the door, they can look... She then turned to her equally rude coworker and said are these that price? The girl said, no, everything growing is 50% off, that’s it. In the type of way you only say when you are very young.... So after arguing multiple times, I stated I spoke to the young man outside asking about single potted annuals in the same flat, I asked if they were also 4 for $1.00 he explained they accidentally get mixed in sometimes, apologized and showed the correct clearance flowers. He was very nice and helpful. So back to rude cashier with resting B face, she rolled her eyes and called the garden center manager and she said the 4 for $1.00 is correct. And the two cashiers proceeded to argue that it was not correct as of yesterday. But fine I will give you the price.....

This was ridiculous and I felt very upset at the level of arguing and insinuation of my husband and I being dishonest. These two young ladies acted as though we were taking money from them personally by giving us the stated clearance sale price....

I was looking for a kind of dog food recommended by my dog's vet, to help with his food allergy's. I got there just a few minutes before they were closing, & I was unable to find this particular food. They announced that the store was closed so I headed to the door. A clerk was coming toward me as I was headed out, & she asked if I had found what I was looking for. I explained that I didn't have time, & now they were closed, & she said "That's ok, I'll help you look." We still didn't find the dogfood, but she said that she knew they carried it, & they get new shipments often. She suggested I call in a few days to check. She also suggested checking at another Bomgaars in a nearby town. Another clerk was at holding the door open...

I was in Bomgaars a few weeks ago looking for a cinch for my horse when I met Ian. He greeted me with a friendly smile and was knowledgeable in helping me determine a good choice for my horse. I love horse talk and enjoyed swapping a few horse stories and showing off a pic or two of my “baby”. Ian really seems to care about people and providing an excellent customer experience.
