I have visited this store at least a half a dozen times with my son. Each time, we’ve read a few books, and then I’ve made a purchase. I really enjoyed coming here but sadly I was very disappointed in the way I was treated at our last visit. We usually sit and read a few books on the cozy benches that appear to be there for the sole purpose of sitting with your child to look at books. We were not loud or disruptive, we quietly read, handling them with care. After maybe 10 minutes a staff member came up and asked if we needed any help. I politely said no and then was told that “this was not a library. And we could look at the books, as long as we were careful.” Which is…exactly what we were doing. She then continued to hover in the area which made me feel pressured to leave. I had the intention of letting my son pick books to purchase but after that I thought no. It just doesn’t make sense because the entire store as well as their posts on Instagram give the impression that this is a place to take your time looking at books and enjoy the space before making your purchase. Apparently thats all for show. I saw another review with a similar experience about a week before our visit. Perhaps they’ve changed their staff, or at least the way they want the store run. After today, we won’t...
Read moreThis place is simply magical. I said “wow!” at least a half dozen times while exploring. It’s a true haven for children’s books complete with a kids reading nook under the staircase, a theater area for special events and a cafe (open during regular bookstore hours and featuring coffee, tea, ice cream and sometimes a few baked goods from a nearby shop) for parents. It’s visually stunning from the decor and displays to the skylight. It’s also very welcoming and the staff were all cheery and ready to help, not being pushy, but offering support with finding anything and to take what I had grabbed so far so I could continue browsing. There were also signs around the library with people suggesting various books with their reasons behind their choice. It’s a children’s bookstore, so most of the selections you’ll find are geared towards young kids, but they also have a good selection of graphic novels, young adult books and even a small section for adults in the cafe area (think Kristin Hannah). The only thing that would make it perfect would be to have a ramp or elevator to the upper floor making it fully accessible. Parking is available in the street (paid). There are also lots...
Read moreI felt very unwelcome with my almost 3 and 5 year old here a few weeks back. My sister and law and I drove almost 35 minutes to check this book store out with our kids. When arriving we weren't greeted with a hello or anything…Our kids wanted to check out the elevator & the worker was very unpleasant about us using it stating it was for wheel chair use, and made us both uncomfortable about using it, but the kids were so excited to check out the cool painted elevator.. second of all I felt like I was being watched like a hawk and my child was even scolded for moving around a stuffed animal. I wouldn’t go here again, or recommend going with children even though it’s a...
