I've worked in customer service, so when I ordered food the first time through Cafe Runner and it took an hour and 40 minutes to get to me, I politely called and asked where my food was - things happen, I totally get it. The lady was very nice and made it right, refunding me $9 (which I didn't ask for - literally just asked where my food was), and very quickly responding to my questions. Great, they messed up and made it right. All was fine despite my food being cold. Then, I got a $10 coupon in the mail. Awesome right?! I love when company's quickly try to fix their errors and go above and beyond. I ordered again through cafe runner. The coupon code said to just put the code in the notes field and hand the card to the driver and the amount will be taken off your total. I did that, and thought all was good. Then, I noticed that the coupon hadn't been applied. I emailed customer support asking if they could refund me - my previous positive experience with their support team made me think it'd be easy and get taken care of no problem. Nope. They can't refund me because it had already been processed, but they'll put it on my account. But considering this process, if the driver gets the card, wouldn't that be reported some how? And isn't it a processing error on their side if it's not? Why did they even send the card if they could have applied it to my account in the first place? Wouldn't it have been a cleaner process for them to put it on my account and send a card saying "This is on your account!" Feeling a little cheated, I likely won't be ordering from them again. It's very unnerving to be charged something that you weren't expecting and the company (who messed it up in the first place) doesn't have the...
Read moreI have been a customer of Cafe Runner for over 5 years and my last two experiences were nothing less than disappointing. I ordered food over the weekend and the driver called and could not find my apartment which was not a problem. However, after the second phone call the driver became very rude and clearly irritated. Eventually the driver requested for me to walk around my apartment complex (at nearly 10pm) to find him. Once I found him, he went on to rudely explain that the driver instructions stated my apartment was upstairs and that is why he could not find it. I then showed the driver that the instructions clearly stated "apt. downstairs." The entire experience was so unpleasant and I will never order from this company again.
My last experience was very unpleasant as well. Same issue with the driver not being able to find my apt. However, when I finally received my food my steak dinner was completely tossed around and smashed in the container. All of the juices had leaked out of the bag and my steak was cold. I would strongly suggest to try one of the other services in town or ubereats. If you must use this company, absolutely do not tip the driver on your credit card. I would wait to make sure the driver actually earned a tip. I usually do not post negative reviews and try to work with management directly to express my concerns. However, my email expressing my experience received no response so a review was definitely necessary. Very...
Read moreI tried them once, and they were about 15 minutes late. I figured that could be random, so I tried them again. The second time, they were 40 minutes late. My dinner, unfortunately, was a steak which arrived cold and dreadful. The delivery person was very kind and explained that the owner would offer a coupon applicable to my next delivery order - but there won't be a next one.
On the second order, someone called to say (or yell, rather) that "football games held us up". Well, I couldn't care less when a $40 order is inedible.
Another thing ... in both cases, what the restaurant provided them to deliver was less carefully prepared than what I would have received if I were in the restaurant. It's as if the chef treats it like a sloppy fast-food order and throws the basic ingredients into a plastic box. Can't be sure exactly where things go bad in the process, but by the time it arrives at your house it will look like cold leftovers that an actual restaurant patron didn't want to eat. Cafe Runner needs to work this out with the restaurant owners, because somewhere in the handoff, they all forget about...
