Funky Junk — Local services in Gun Barrel City

Funky Junk doesn’t begin to sum this place up. None of the items out front had prices on them. That should’ve been the first warning. The store was locked when we arrived during posted business hours. The store owner eventually opened the door to let us into the store, which reeked of cat pee. He made an announcement to us (the only people in the store) that because things had been slow, everything he had was on sale; just ask him. So I asked about some of the pottery out front. He told me what the prices were, and what he’d sell them for on sale. I found 3 items I was interested in, and that put me at $20. Inside, before I checked out, I asked if he would sell all 3 items for $15. He shut my question down in 2.5 seconds, and gave a hard NO. I only asked because he said anything/ everything was on sale. I politely said I did not want to purchase the items, and he told me I didn’t have to. He threw a temper tantrum. I couldn’t get out of that place fast enough. This place’s motto: Overpriced & NOT nice....

My wife and I have been going to the store for many years and spent close to 2k in metal signs, metal yard art, seasonal metal art and other item. However in early Jan 2022 when we were in the store, the owners were watching the news and a story came on about the hospitals current situation and I made the comment that they are counterdicting themselves again! The owner came unglued and started to verbally assult me and yelling about the hat I was wearing! His yelling got so bad that I walked over to the counter and in between his yelling asked him if he wanted me to leave for which he quickly said ...No! He'll take your money but you can't talk or wear something he finds offensive eventhough he sales items that many people would find offensive! I believe in supporting local businesses but this one will never receive another dollar from me! I will not recommend this store again! And please be aware that many of the items can be purchased cheaper at several other...

Shop posted 10:00 opening and Open sign. Door locked; and a guy sitting inside saw me, but didn't unlock the door for another 10 minutes or so. It was almost 100 degrees. No apology, no welcome. He said everything was on sale, but when asked the price of an unmarked item [every item I looked at was not priced!], he became downright rude. Long hair, an ill-kept appearance, and grumbling under his breath about slow business and customers. If this is the Owner, he won't have a business long. If an employee, the Owner should demand an attitude adjustment or let this guy go. Bad...
