El Agave Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Gun Barrel City

The first thing I asked the waitress was, “What are your vegetarian options?” She gave me the standard salad answer. When I asked if they had cheese chile I relleno she said yes. So I ordered that with chile con queso and ranchero sauce. Hubby ordered the chili cheese enchiladas. He got his chili and cheddar cheese. He was expecting chili con queso but he said it was still good. Mynorder came with the correct cheese and tachera sauces on top. Unfortunately, it was full of ground beef instead of cheese. So I had to send it back. When I got it back the next time it was a cheese chile Riano, but unfortunately had chili cheese on it instead of ranchero sauce like had been correctly done the first time. Had to send it back again, reminding her I was vegetarian and did not want any meat on my food. So back it went. I heard her tell the cooks again in Spanish that I did not want any meat, that I was vegetarian (remember, I speak Spanish). When I got my dish the third time the only sauce on the Chile relleno was ranchero sauce. And she brought me a side I chili con carne. I asked her why she brought me meat? Turns out that in this Mexican restaurant, chile con queso equals chili con carne. I asked how the queso part was ignored. I got a deer in the headlight look. I asked what did they call the cheese sauce. She said they call it dip. 🤦🏼‍♀️ When I got a side of the dip and put it on my chile relleno it all was good. The rice is good if you mix it with the sauces for additional flavor. The charro beans were good once you added salt. Not sure I’d go back. Too much work. And no, I didn’t get any discount for having to send my plate back twice to...

I usually don't leave reviews but this is a MUST! We have been here a few times and it is good, salsa is great. BUT when we went today makes me regret everytime we have been before and will never return. We arrived, ordered drinks and queso. Waitress brought questions and we asked for small bowls for the kids, when she returned with them there was a roach crawling all over the bowls. We told her she said sorry and took them and would bring new bowls. I had decided at this point I wasn't eating, but what sent me more over was her bringing more bowls back like it was normal and is realizing there was another roach crawling from under the table across my sons menu. We got up to leave and paid for our drinks even though we didn't drink them. She rang them up and gladly charged our card for $14. $14 isn't the point but it should have been comped because she served us roaches with them. Will never return. I can't eat where roaches are crawling on everything and the staff doesn't bat an eye about it....

Very rude people! I called to place a pick up order and was told that they were to busy. He asked me if I wanted to come up there to place an order and I said no Im trying to place an order over the phone to come pick up. He said well we are really busy with a lot of people so it will take about 45 min. I said that is fine I can come pick it up in 45 min. He then again told me that I needed to come up there to order and I said no I was not going to sit in the parking lot for 45 min after placing a pick up order. I was then hung up on so I called back and asked if there was a manager I could speak with. I explained again what I was trying to do and again I was told they are to busy with a lot of people. I told him that's fine I can just spend my money else where he said ya do that and again...
