COMPLAINT FILED WITH NJ ATTORNEY GENERAL 1/17/22
November 21, 2022 I received an ultrasound at this location. Before my appointment, I received notice (via email) that the procedure would cost approx. 300. This seemed high to me so I called my insurance provider (Blue Cross) to make sure that the correct billing codes were being applied. The day of the procedure, the price suddenly became $466.68. I explained that I have this procedure every year as it is a preventative check due to a chronic health condition that I have. Last year, with the same insurance provider but a different service provider (i.e., NOT NJIN) I only paid $35 (my co-pay). As I had to have the test, I paid in full the day of service. However, when I followed up with my healthcare provider, they told me that I actually shouldn't have been charged ANYTHING if the procedure had been correctly coded. I then called NJIN and submitted a request 12/12 for the coding to be adjusted and a refund to be processed. I have called the billing department several times since then. Each time, they offer no explanation for why I was overcharged but they tell me that a manager with reach out and contact me directly. That has never happened. Nor have I received anything in the mail verifying my requests or that the coding adjustment was closed (without explanation according to several billing CS agents I've spoken with). Last week, I spoke with someone who said that a refund request has been submitted for $115. 66. However, the office can't explain how they reached that number and they are claiming that it will take another 30 days for the claim to be processed. This whole situation is essentially theft. They overcharged me, refuse to provide anything in writing that shows my requests for adjustments or a refund and even refuse to put any notes into their own system explaining what is going on and why as of 1/17/2023, nearly two months after I...
Ā Ā Ā Read morestill not sure how I feel about this place. Front desk was a little strange at first. No welcome or greeting when first entering.. I just kind of stood there waiting to be asked to come to the desk. One of the women at the front is actually VERY nice and personable; she didn't check me in. As for the tech who did my ultrasound? Let me just say, that I feel like anyone who is going to an imaging center, is already a little uneasy, worried maybe, nervous? You don't go to an imaging center to find out if you've won the lottery or the grand prize. Usually it's diagnostic, or screening, for something you may have, do have, or are at risk for. ALL that said, I would have expected an ultrasound technician to have a much better bedside manner. (Kim), performed well, as far as the job itself (my dr had no issues with the images, and I guess the radiologist didn't either), but she wasn't warm and welcoming at all. No conversation, no smiles, just felt like I was on an assembly line "Oh, another patient to take pictures of". She was a little rough, and when I was finished, I had to ask her if I was! She wiped me off, pulled the paper sheet away and turned the other way, so I didn't know if the test was still ongoing, and then I looked to notice she had started cleaning the equipment, and said "am I all set?" Like she couldn't even be bothered. I truly hope that if Kim ever took a parent or a child to an appt like this, that she would EXPECT better out of the technicians. As she SHOULD. The shame of all of this is that I looked at a few reviews before I came here and there are others that mentioned a "Kim", so why has this not been addressed? I'm not looking for a tech who hugs me when I arrive, but a little kindness can go a long way, especially in the medical field. And I don't want to hear the age-old "maybe she was having a bad day"..because it seems to be a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst of all, I didn't even know that this place was nestled in the building where it's located. I called yesterday, Friday, to make an appointment and they gave me one for this morning at 9 am. I was asked to be there a half hour early, which was good because I ended up going in the wrong / long entrance to the building. Luckily with it being a Saturday, they had all the doors unlocked that I needed to use to find them. The only thing that would have made this better was if someone had told me what entrance to use when I made the appointment. I was thoroughly impressed when I had to fill out the forms and found out they had actually completed one of them for me with all the information I gave them over the phone! I think this is the first doctor related appointment I've ever been to that did that. I got called back a couple minutes before my appointment time to get prepped for the MRI. The changing room has personalized four digit code locks for your belongings like a hotel safe only as big as a locker. The technologist was helpful and thorough providing me with pillows and blankets for the procedure and making sure my toes were covered to keep warm. When everything was all over I changed and went to the front desk and didn't even have to wait for my CD to take to the doctor. Overall this was a very pleasant experience and I would recommend this Imaging Center if you are unfortunate enough to need...
