I am updating my previous review as a reply to your "response from owner" because your response contains inaccuracies. First, I have reexamined my receipt and nowhere on it does it state “Items not returnable.” In any case, this is something not seen by a customer until the transaction is complete. Second, I do not recall this policy stated in signage anywhere in proximity to the counter (or elsewhere.) Finally, you state that “…[this policy] doesn’t really need to be written anywhere like grocery…bc ppl [because people] don’t return or exchange booze and groceries.” I have been buying wine and spirits for nearly 50 years and have never had a problem exchanging a spirit – and I hasten to add that this is not something I do all the time – when what I am exchanging it for is of equal or greater value. And as far as groceries, all supermarkets that I have patronized not only will exchange but will also refund non-perishable groceries when brought back in a timely manner by the customer. I am pleased that you have been in business 20+ years and wish you continued prosperity, but will not again patronize your store until your policies change – and they should change.
I purchased a bottle of Malibu Bay Rum shortly before Thanksgiving. Once I got home, my wife reminded me that I had a bottle on hand. Shortly after Thanksgiving, I took it back - unopened of course - explained the situation to the clerk on duty and asked to please exchange it for a more expensive bottle of bourbon. The clerk refused to exchange it. I reminded the clerk that my exchange would make more money for their store than did the original purchase. The clerk still refused and gave a ridiculous response: "If I let you do that, then everyone would do it." Well, everyone does it now, as an exchange for greater gain is an accepted practice. Worse, this policy was not stated on my receipt nor did I find it posted anywhere in the store. I am a frequent purchaser of spirits, but will never again purchase from this store - and I ask all who read this to...
Read moreJust moved to area and realized this liquor store was here. Stopped by wit my husband and he told me he wanted something specific. Went in and older guy starts following me around the store. Then instructs cashier (new kid, first day I believe he said) to follow me around as well. 2 caucasian women and 1 man walked in 3 other times…No one watched them. Atp im uncomfortable and held up a bottle close to wht i could find for approval frm my husband. And im now on the phone telling him and he sees him walking closer to me so my husband comes in the store. He starts looking around as well and now they are both in the aisle with us. My husband found what he was looking for. And we paid and left. I moved here from North Brunswick and I spend thousands of dollars in liquor during the holidays to the point i get discounts year around. I was planning on spending it here as they have a larger selection compared to others close by.but um glad he behaved this way. I’ll spend it in a better place….LET ME EXPLAIN SUMTHNG TO U SIR! MY HUSBAND IS A HEAD CHEF AND SUPERVISOR AND IM A PHLEBOTOMIST LIC. AND NURSE. WE NEVER BEEN TO JAIL. Parents never been, grandparents never been. One thing i do know, is my grandmother is very friendly and frequent with our lovely MAYOR… so ill request him a visit or letter because i notice it is common behavior in this neighborhood. So since everyone is so bold with it …ok. Not every African American is a thief.
Update ** u said this isnt the right place. So ur not across the street from the planet fitness? The photos of ur store isnt correct on google?… if it is.. this most definitely...
Read moreOver the past several years I have been a customer here spending $60-$100 a month on beer, wine and spirits. Today the owner decided he didn’t want my business. I paid in cash. No processing fees when you pay cash. The bill was $51.15. I asked if he could accept $51. “Nope, you have the money to pay”, pointing to cash in my hand. “This is a small business not a restaurant”, he said. He got defensive instead of just saying “Sorry that’s the total.”. Pro tip: Go to Cork & Bottle for beer and spirits and Moore Brothers Wine...
