Me and my husband heard that a new Venezuelan restaurant was opening up in Haddon Township NJ. We took a trip but when we got there the restaurant was not yet open. However, we opened the door and were warmly greeted by the owner and her father. They are still in the process of getting the space fully operational. While chatting, the smell of the food that was being cooked was so enticing, that I asked, or begged according to my husband, if we could purchase some. The owner said yes and prepared us a great to go bag. While waiting, she also let us sample some "carne esmechada" shredded beef. It was absolutely delicious and took me back to Caracas. My husband, who had tried the dish several times said this was the best he has tasted. We took our to bag, and left. Again, I cannot stress enough how friendly the owner and her father were. We could not even make the drive home. The chicken empanadas were delicious. They were crispy but light. (FYI - the dough is gluten-free). We then tried the "Tequenos". For Americans, these are similar to mozzarella sticks but just not greasy. Once again my husband said they were the best ones he has had. They also gave us "Yuca Fries" which are frech fries made out of yuca. Another Winner! All in all, the food was "Ricas" Delicious. I cannot wait till they open as we will be regular customers. We wish them success and strongly urge others to try this restaurant. You will not be disappointed.
