Hamilton Beauty Supply — Local services in Hamilton Township

I came into this establishment with my mother and father. We are Black Americans. A male, Asian store owner/employee (I'm not sure which) followed my father and mother through several isles, continuously looking at his pockets. My father then confronted him, and the employee pretended not to understand English. Extremely disrespectful and entirely unacceptable; and yet another example of non-Black individuals profiting off of Black Americans while simultaneously treating us like criminals. Do better.

RESPONSE: Firstly, we appreciate you and your team taking the time to respond. However, we do not appreciate being told that something that we experienced did not occur. It is not debatable, we are entirely sure of what occured--- and I doubt you'd venture to say the employee "accidentally" followed my father through several isles. Refusing to acknowledge that this behavior did in fact occur only adds to the disrespect. Secondly, my father did NOT signal the employee over for help. He gave the employee no reason to approach us. The employee followed him to where he was when he inevitably confronted him. Furthermore, regardless of the language barrier, I'm sure the employee was fully aware of his actions, and this employee did NOT apologize at any point. My father advising him to "be careful" was part of a general statement advising the employee to "be careful" with the way he acts towards his customers--- Black customers--- as it is obviously viewed as disrespectful. NEVER WILL I WALK INTO THIS STORE AGAIN! Been coming here ever since they opened, and have usually had a good experience. Not so much today. Came in to make a quick purchase and there were two young women behind the register area. One was Spanish, the other African American. I placed my item on the counter and they BOTH walked away. I asked if I could just walk out since they didn’t want to assist me. The Spanish girl said “she can ring you up”, meaning the African American girl (cashier). When the cashier walked back I told her I knew why she walked away. She “claimed” to be taking care of another customer. There was no other customer. She walked away because I’m Caucasian. I will admit this is not the first time I have been met with hostility when visiting a beauty supply store that caters to black people. Roll back the video footage and you’ll clearly see what happened. Thank goodness for Amazon because that’s where I’ll buy this item...

I had to come back on here an edit my review because the owners here are wonderful an they took care of the issue I had with my wig installation.As a business I don’t know a beauty mart like this that would have done what they have done to make there customer happy an they have a lot of employees an they can’t control what every employee says or does but they take full responsibility for it an that’s a plus an if you don’t know they have the best hair stylist in the area “quilla “she will definitely have u looking good u won’t be disappointed u will love your hair so definitely have your wig installed an styled by quilla they have so many nice wigs to an others great...
