Harbor Freight — Local services in Hammond

I absolutely LOVE the cashiers and stock employees here. I used to love the store! The reason I am only giving it a three is, the new “Manager” (no names), seems to have an issue with people who decide to shop there or WORK there. I am a very consistent customer and have gotten to know a few of the cashiers quite well. It seems as though on the days she isn’t there they are much happier and a WHOLE lot less stressed. I’m sure she is only trying to look out for the companies best interest, but she seems to not realize that the company’s best interest is in the CUSTOMERS!!! I know for a fact that she needs to refocus herself on customer satisfaction and employee happiness. No one enjoys working when they feel as if they are being micromanaged and constantly watched or “Bird-Dogged” as we call in the construction business. Hope someone reads this and decides to act. If not the store won’t last long. People will pay more for their merchandise at Lowe’s and Home Depot if it means better...

Don't use this store often, I was greeted by the cashier, who was very attentive and had a line ten people deep. Needed some zip ties and mechanics gloves. While in the store, I personally saw two different people putting merchandise on their person and they were shoplifting!! I saw the manager Eddie, informed him and he said there is nothing we can do. Unbelievable... Shame on Harbor Freight for allowing this. Huge company with huge profits on cheap stuff. They should absolutely have a loss prevention individual at the stores to keep this from happening. Why would you spend your hard earned money on products that you can just steal. I have been here 4 times now, different days of week and different times of day. NEVER have I been able to check out in under 30 minutes. There are not even many people in line but there are always issues checking out and the cashier can't resolve quickly or has to wait on a manager. Management is either not aware or not concerned as they stand by the office up front. Today there were only 3 cashiers open, all 5 deep and a group of staff hanging out by the office on their phones having a good ol time instead of opening more registers.
