Food Lion — Local services in Hampton

Was previously a 4 star that I am editing down to a 2 star rating. Cashiers attitudes tended to be a bit poor but over time I noticed an improvement which pleased me. Now it's... I guess the people who do stocking while the store is open that is the problem. These people often walk around the store, take up large portions of the aisles, and pretend they don't see you when you need to get by. On one particular instance, 2 employees were talking across from each other in the aisle, not side by side which would allow room for customer to pass by, but across from each other so as to take up as much space with their bodies as possible. They never moved aside for me. They just kept on talking. They saw me, they definitely saw me, they just didn't care. And this, during a time of global pandemic, disgraceful. I got in touch with customer service. They said they'd have someone contact me about my experience. No one ever contacted me. Nice. I try to never shop there now. Food Lion is very, very close to me, much closer than any other grocery store. Yet I go out of my way to not shop at Food Lion now.

I'm very tempted to drop this rating down to 1 star. Maybe I will in the future. For now it will stay as a 2 star rating b/c I haven't always had significant problems with them, in recent times the cashiers have been friendly, and it's a good place...

Other than this store being in a very convenient location, in the fact that it is always clean, I don't really care to come here. The managers are never very nice which is surprising because managers should be people oriented. I had to come here for my son and daughter-in-law's Cook-Out reception at Sandy Bottom Nature park across the street. I needed to go get ice and found out their bags of ice a bit expensive. $18 in change for four bags of ice? Not to mention they didn't have any of their store-brand cha-ching hamburger or hotdog buns on the Shelf. I asked a coworker restocking in Derry if they had any in the back. He was very polite and friendly and went to the back to bring some up. I was very appreciative that he took the extra time to help me out as a customer. However, I was very disappointed to realize that the hamburger and hot dog buns expired in 5 days and they were not very soft at all. Due to the circumstances I had to purchase them anyway. I was very disappointed at the money I had to spend during the shopping visit for the quality and price of the items I needed to purchase. I also was not pleased with a few of the remarks the manager that was cashiering...

Since it is the only store close to my house, i dont have alot of options. Normally, I dont mind shopping there and generally the staff are oretty nice (with some exceptions), however, they are currently remodeling their store so it is congested, and there are boxes and baskets everywhere. I guess they have decided to wait until they are finshed to re-stock some things, because i have been there about every day in the last week and several items are still out of stock. Really need to get another store close by now that Farm...
