It is a nice nature center, not as interactive for kids as compared to the one at Newport News Park, nor did the staff jump out of seats to say hi. It does, however, have lots of reptiles and amphibians in nice exhibits. They do, also have life jackets and boats to rent if one wants to go out on the lake/large pond. Nearby, there is a playground just the right size for kids with pavillions and a bathroom facility right there. Behind the nature center is a trail that can go around the lake or branch off and has a dog park right next to the dock.
