I enjoyed my stay at Sandy Bottom. This is a well maintained Park, kept very clean. They have many boats, canoes, kayaks for rent. The ranger station has local live wildlife. Plenty activities throughout the year. The campsites were quiet and had good privacy. Camp sites had a sand platform, picnic table, and fire pit with grill. There was plenty firewood in the woods. It was a short walk from the parking area, but I do recommend bringing a wagon to carry your items to the campsite. The rangers really look out for you while you're camping, as far as making sure all other people are out of the park. They lock the gates at sunset, so that no one but campers are in the park. They take that very seriously to keep everyone safe. It's a beautiful Park, and it was a fun place to stay. There are plenty trash cans nearby the camping area, the restrooms are by the parking area, and they have flushing toilets and running water, and electric. If you have children, you might want a portable potty at the campsite. As with any state, national or municipal park, this is not a party place for drinking or drugs and is well unforced. This is a safe, family friendly, dog friendly park, and thanks to the wonderful Park Rangers, it should stay that way for everyone to enjoy. It...

The park in the central area provides a decent escape from the surrounding area. However, the back end of the walking paths and ponds run along the highway and are pretty noisy.
There is also a dog park, but your dog has to have a pass to enter.
Overall, great park. We found it by accident and have gone back...
Read moreThere are plenty play things for a full park of kids to play with. My toddler loves the dangerous rock climbing wall (completely safe for anyone who isn't a toddler). It's right in the thick of the "nature park" so they can continue the game of tag and hide and seek in the trees, that are easy to see through, with a fence around the perimeter so they can't venture out too far past the benches or tables parents sit at. The set up gives plenty opportunity for kids to have fun and parents/guardians to be at ease...
