Fat Moose Comics — Local services in Hanover Township

As a box holder at Fat Moose for 20 years now (howly cow) I can confidently say Fat Moose Comics is the best comic book store in the area. If I had to pinpoint the best attributes of this store I would say: Loyalty and friendliness. As a box older, I have never had an issue securing the comics and collectibles I want - I just give the always friendly and attentive owner or clerk a heads up and its there when it comes out. I applaud the owner for rolling with the punches in the wake of everything from state shutdowns, UPS issues, and oh yea a global pandemic. Fat Moose also has a great selection of wall books that has flowed in and out of the shop over the past couple of years. I have purchased the majority of my keys from this very shop including: X-Men 1, Giant Sized X-Men 1, Amazing Spider-Man 300, and Fantastic Four 48 - just to name a few. On my most recent visit I picked up a copy of Sub-Mariner 13 - the first appearance of naga - who is rumored to appear in the next Black Panther film. Fat Moose is a comic reader's comic shop. One of the last of a dying breed of true local comic shops that focuses on comics more than anything else. It's also one of the oldest, longest running shops in the area.

The owner Shawn is fun, entertaining and knowledgeable - and a skilled expert in helping customers find what they are looking for. Fat Moose is one of the best shops in the Morristown area and has unique content that you don't see in other shops. A great mix of pop culture, old and new comics and much more.

This isn't just a place to shop. It's a place you get to know and hang out in to talk with like-minded people who love comics as much as you do. This is an old-school comic shop, so no Pokemon or games here. Fat Moose is about comics, comic art and comic talk. Fat Moose is comic-centric. If that sounds good to you, then this is your shop! IMO, that is the critical attribute of a great old school comic shop.

One thing you should know about me to understand my review: I do approximately 50 push-ups a day. I also like to show off my toned physique as much as possible. The other day I decided to bike 8 miles to the shop in the sweltering heat. I don’t care that swear was glistening off of my arms, which I call “thunder” and “lightning”. When I got to the shop I made sure double park before going in. I was stopped though and told by the scroungy looking guy at the counter I needed a shirt. I was upset at first but while getting a shirt from the dry cleaners downstairs i thought about it for a minute. Why do I insist on being shirtless ? Was it childhood trauma, narcissism ?
