Dining at Il Capriccio was truly a standout experience from start to finish. This is the kind of restaurant where you dress up, take your time, and fully indulge—because every detail, from the ambiance to the food, is intentional and elevated.
We arrived for our reservation and waited about 20 minutes to be seated, but it was far from an inconvenience. Their elegant waiting area is designed as an upscale bar, complete with a warm atmosphere, plush seating, and top-tier cocktails—making the wait feel more like a prelude to the experience.
For dinner, we ordered the filet mignon wrapped in prosciutto and the New York strip steak. Both dishes were absolute perfection. The filet was tender and flavorful, with the salty crisp of prosciutto adding a delicious layer of richness. The strip steak was cooked exactly to order, juicy and robust, with every element on the plate beautifully composed. Presentation was just as impressive as taste—everything looked and felt refined.
To end the meal, we had the warm apple dessert, which was the perfect cozy touch. Sweet, spiced, and comforting, it brought the whole evening to a satisfying close.

Read moreMy husband and I dined there this evening, and were excited to go out for a change in NJ, instead of heading to NYC.
The staff was very nice, but the food did not deliver. The cacio e pepe was made with homemade pici, but the dish was far too laden with salt. We both cook often, and dine out all over the world. We’ve been to Italy many times. We did not inform our server, as we did not want to be rude, and had high hopes for our second courses.
I had the branzino, which was one of the specials. The fish was nicely deboned table side, but the sauce contained black olives and capers. It was so salty, that I could not eat the entree at all. We notified our server, and he promptly brought out another one, albeit this time with a lighter, white wine sauce. It was definitely good quality fish, but I traded salt for less flavor. The side vegetables looked like they were frozen (the way they were presented and diced on the plate), or part of an airline business class meal. They did not pair nicely with the whole fish.
We stayed for dessert and coffee, and to be fair, the cannoli blew us away. It was phenomenal. The shell was baked out of almonds, and the ricotta filling was perfect. We also tried the tiramisu, which was good, but not great.
Bottom line, we would come back for cappuccinos and cannolis, but would skip the entrees. The servers were very attentive, and apologetic...
Read moreThese was one of the very few fancy restaurant experiences I had so bear with me if my review is scratchy.
The place has a whole vibe to it. There's a gentlemen playing good music with his piano, there's a bar top, several round tables to have ample conversations, and a secret private room if one wants to be more private and be isolated from the noise. I am blown away (in a nice way) with all these different arrangements.
We took the private room, the walls surrounding it were all filled with wine bottles. It was nice for a large party like us to have good conversations.
The staff were good, very well trained. The food was better, had there brisket steak, and it was one of the best I had, granted I had only few experiences earlier. Nevertheless it was very tasty. The scallion entree was also pretty good. Desserts seemed lovely, the crisp apple tart and cheese cake were pretty good.
The ambience, staff and food were all good. But all of this comes with a price. If you feel 40 dollar entrees and 15 dollar desserts are worth the better ambience and on par food like the other restaurants out there, then you'll be satisfied. Will I come back, maybe not. If my company's paying for it,...
