Sweet Pea Children's Shop — Local services in Hanover Township

I am not going to leave this business with a positive review, because I just can't. I can't because of my experience, and I also would have a guilty conscience. The issue didn't lie in whether or not I felt welcomed after my entrance. It all started a few moments afterward. I selected some stuffed animals and brought them to the counter. I could not believe the presumptuous and pretentious disposition of the store manager. I could tell that she was disappointed I was not picking more stuff from the shelves. It was after a part in the verbiage, that the store manager asked if I was buying the ware for a baby shower, at the height of the Pandemic. I didn't appreciate how she continued to badger me about who I was buying it for, instead of simply asking me if I needed a gift receipt. I shopped Sweet Pea with my mother right there, so she could have gathered that I am an aunt or shopping for my cousin instead of assuming that I did not have a baby shower of my own. What a horrible experience. After attempting to exchange an item that was mislabeled with the wrong size, the shop owner proceeded to berate me that while the manufacturer tag says one size, her sizing interpretation is correct and wouldn’t let me even speak, shaking her head saying NO NO NO when I tried to show her. I tried to explain to her that I tried the dress on my daughter, did not fit, and that the manufacturer label is an accurate size (but not the size I thought I was purchasing based on her tag). I even had pictures of it on my daughter because I had a feeling this would be an issue with her when I went to return. She told me my daughter must be “differently shaped”. What an incredibly odd thing to say about someone’s child to defend her odd sizing adjustments. She also then waved around a word document she created with her sizing conversion.

I visited the store already couple of times , my daughter and me love the brand Mayoral and Sweet Pea carries the brand . I noticed already the times before that staff is absolutely rude , and not welcoming . I don’t understand small businesses are struggling we hear as consumers from every corner , but then you want to support them and find something more special , than at Target ,Gap , … but they are doing such a poor job . Nobody greeted me or the person coming in after me. No help was offered , or even just a plain smile , the store has less and less items to choose from . I really like a dress for over 70$ for my little one but since I was shocked by the atmosphere- I just left without making any purchase. Guess what - nobody says...
