I’m extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Mercy House. I visited the store on two separate occasions to inquire about purchasing a specific nightstand that was still displayed on the sales floor after being purchased. Both times, I was told someone would follow up with me about its availability after it sat on the floor for two months (4/17) after being purchased. Not once did I receive a call back. I was told that since the person who purchased it never came to collect it, they would be willing to sell it to me if it wasn’t picked up by Thursday(6/19). Nobody called to let me know either way(as they said they would). I came in on Sunday to check for myself, only to find out that they are now delivering it to the original buyer. This lack of communication and poor follow-through wasted my time and left me feeling frustrated and ignored as a customer. I’d greatly appreciate if this experience leads to better organizational skills and establish better communication between employees/volunteers too consumers. I expected better customer service and better...
Read moreYou can find some GREAT deals here (which is what keeps me coming back) and some of my best thrift buys have come from Mercy House (cheap clothes, $5 bag of books, etc.), but the organization and cleanliness is lacking in some places.
Over the years their clothing section has become a nightmare to navigate, the aisles are narrow and overcrowded with clothing racks. I doubt they rotate their clothing or pass along items that haven’t sold after x number of weeks (much like Goodwill does). The 80% of the glassware items in the home goods section should just be recycled...I’m not sure why someone would buy a used smuckers jam jar, etc. Plus walking through the glass section is terrifying - narrow aisles can make knocking a whole shelf of glasses off a display easy. (The crowded and narrow aisles makes the majority of the store wheelchair inaccessible).
Plus, some of the cookware items are sticky with food...
Read moreGreat store with a huge selection of wares, books and media. Prices are low for clothing and everything else. Like most thrift stores, pricing can be inconsistent and you'll find a few items that are priced way too high. I subtracted half a star because they stopped selling toys. I understand that parents were allowing children to play unsupervised and also destroy their property. However, the toys could still be sold in other areas of the store. I hope that toys people donate are not thrown away and instead transfered to a different thrift store. I removed another half star because there are never enough shopping carts. I would have purchased more but couldn't handle the weight in my basket. I got great customer service from the person who checked me out but the other cashier seemed like it was a bother to...
