As an Italian-American, who has eaten and made authentic Italian food for over 40 years, I feel my opinion is one not only should customers take seriously, but also the management of this store should pay close attention....
First, the pizza tasted like it had cheddar cheese on it. And while some people like this on their Neapolitan Pizza, it has no place being there unless requested by the customer.
Second, the pizza tasted like it had either been frozen and heated or it was very old and reheated (most pizza slices are reheated but mine was particularly suspect). And my pizza was sprinkled with what appeared to be Parmesan or some other kind of dry cheese or cheese-like product. I did not order this and it should not be served that way unless specified or requested ahead of time.
Another time I ordered spaghetti with marinara sauce - I mean, with the so-called marinara sauce. It tasted like it had red pepper flakes in it, which would make it fra diavolo sauce, NOT marinara. It also tasted like it had muscles (shellfish) juice in it. It tasted like I was eating the marinara sauce that was poured from a muscles fra diavolo dish. Okay if that's what you ordered, but I ordered spaghetti with marinara sauce. There should be NO PEPPER of any kind in marinara sauce unless specified in the menu or requested by the customer.
And then there was the cheese in the sauce. I was asked if I wanted cheese in the sauce and I clearly said NO. I did not want something that tasted like or looked like the sauce you get in a can of Spaghettios, but that's what I got - some kind of dry cheese or cheese-like product mixed into the sauce against my wishes.
Lastly was the spaghetti itself. That's hard to mess up but in my opinion they did. In America, when referring to spaghetti the typical household, especially in Italian-American families, most are thinking of spaghetti that's the size and shape of Ronzoni brand number 9, whether they realize it or not. This size of spaghetti is the most popular size because it's not too skinny, not too fat and should be used at all times in a restaurant, unless otherwise specified or requested by the customer. If someone asks for fat spaghetti you go into a large size. If someone wants thin spaghetti you go into what is often called vermicelli or angel hair. What I got was the fattest spaghetti pasta you can get, without going into a tubular spaghetti. It was like the size spaghetti you get in Franco-American canned macaroni and cheese. And while this might not sound like a big deal to some, anyone who is use to eating spaghetti in a traditional way knows fat spaghetti is not the norm. And, to those who really know how Italian pasta should be used, they know the size and shape of the pasta matters a lot - a lot.
So, as an Italian-American who has been eating and cooking Italian for 40+ years, I would not recommend Little Italy...

Read moreAwful experience. We ordered a pizza for delivery around 8:30 one evening. He said it would delivered by 9 o'clock. We called 45 minutes later and were told that it would be their in a couple minutes. We waited another twenty minutes before calling again to cancel. The man on the phone told us we could not cancel it and gave the excuse that it was being delivered at this moment. We received a call moments later from the pizza carrier, asking for our address and repeatedly asking us to spell it out. We still haven't gotten out pizza and it's almost been an hour and a half. Unless you want to be swindled out of money for 'okay' at most pizza, I highly suggest never getting pizza from them. Instead, I highly suggest Benny's or Pano's. Filthy way of...
