I presented for difficulty breathing in the middle of the night. Initially, everyone jumped to assist. The lady at the triage window was kind and moved with urgency to my situation. Taken to an ER Bay, it was not easy to form sentences due to the situation and helped to communicate information I had already shared with those that came in later. When I mentioned being a nurse, someone in the room asked where I was a nurse, I mentioned where and they repeated it with disdain and clear dislike for the company I work for. Once all the blood was obtained, tests taken, etc, I was left alone, glass door and curtain closed, no call button in reach. Finally, the physician returned, explained the results, answered questions and discharged me with instructions. The nurse came in, handed a few papers to sign, then handed a thick packet to me with no additional information regarding it, told me where the exit door was and left the room so I could get dressed. As I was leaving, I offered thanks everyone sitting at the desk for helping me to breathe again. Not one person responded, looked up, acknowledged I existed, nothing. I went from initially experiencing a flurry of activity to assist my situation to not even being walked down the hallway to ensure I found the exit. From being made to feel like the company I work for was bad, to no way to communicate needs while alone, to complete indifference on discharge, I do hope the staff learn professionalism and basic patient safety. The triage person, the physician and the respiratory therapist were the kindest, they are why I gave 3 stars...
Read moreWas with my son on 11-22-17 for abdominal pain, puking, and blood in his urine. During the visit the tests that were ran were blood panels, urinalysis, Ultrasound, and CT Scan on his abdomen. The lab tech who got the blood panels was an epic nurse who took her time and comforted my son for 15 minutes before actually sticking him with a needle she showed great love and care for her patient. After that we received questionable care. The doctor in the er that night was communicating with children Mercy hospital but probably not being detailed or following up it was suggested for a transfer even. The medicine administrated was zofran and toradol. Urinalysis showed a lot of blood in his urine. My son was in agony even after toradol. The CT scan the nurse giving the IV didn't even fully wake my son or allowed me to get closer to comfort him before putting the IV in the proceeded to wrap his arm tightly enough to turn his arm blue. We eventually convinced her to rewrap it looser. Supposely the CT Scan "normal" and they chopped it up to possible constipation and prescribed mirlac and sent my son home after also noticing his right testicle was missing from scrotum and not running anymore test. We went home and my son was unconsolable every 30 minutes crying in pain. Went to children's mercy hospital a few hrs later they requested the CT scan done by Cass and found my son had kidney stone and it was clear on the images. Also while in the er room you can here staff making fun and talking about other patients....
Read moreHospital was pretty coffee .was free, but I kept being referred to doctors who didn't seem to listen to my pain and when given extensive referred me test I was preferred to a doctor my HMO wasn't connected with. I went to one doctor who used a needle on my right hand finger, and would have gone back to him regarding my right hand palm cyst but i was referred to peterson who wasn't interested. I still have that right palm cyst. Also my dermatologist, marija Tonkovich, walked into me waiting for surgery. She said almost nothing, cut off a little gathering of scar tissue left from a bump, and said "there now, you have another scar matching all the other ones. And she walked out without a word. , I'm told her records and those of harrisonville family medicine are not shared even though they'rein the same building, across hall from each other. I have to drive 60 miles round trip to get to your facility. I've been referred to a Dr Johnson by HFM for pain. I worked for a docto who testified against the use of epidural spinal injections-and I researched them. They cause no lasting relief of pain and sometimes make it worse, causing the spider like web covering the spinal cord to separate from the protective web, there is a lot of evidence that these epidurals do popular in pain clinics are causing more Damage than good and are - adversely, not helping. I transcribed this for my employer, Dr Joseph lichtor for 16 years. -sometimes 21page reports that went into the...
