Since I've moved to Missouri I've been in search of the Mexican restaurant that reminds me of home. In understanding that each place is different from the regions they all derive from I've, found that almost all of them in Missouri have one thing in common. Everything is smothered in cheese or sauce. IMO this is Mexican American. I am so used to things like burritos being huge with no sauce on them, no beans and rice on the side but with chillies or a roasted jalapeno on the side with, homemade Verde and chilli sauce. That to me is home. Don't get me wrong, the food was great ! The crew were well in tune with one another and the atmosphere was nice. I guess what I myself is looking for is that mom and pop that doesn't smother everything in sauce and not everything comes with beans and rice. Still a great place and I will return on my next passing through Harrisonville. I would love to see these amazing families and their home culture be brought to the table!! The flavors are amazing and so are the different levels of spice in every dish and I'm sure others feel the same way. In short, don't be afraid to bring your culture to the table!!! I myself love spicy foods and the culture of Mexico really knows how to put it together regardless of what region they are from. Thank you for the Modelo and the lunch chimichunga it was...
Read moreSkip it. The service is so bad and the food is mediocre to bad. The steak dishes are overcooked, dry, and bland. Nothing is well made or well seasoned, it's all bland and gloppy. The staff wouldn't bring us drink refills, we had to ask over and over. They just stood around and when someone's kid next to us knocked something over they saw it but had to be told to go get something to clean with then left the people to do it themselves. They can't be bothered to pay attention to who ordered what and don't recognize their own dishes so they just wave the food around at the table trying to guess while you try to figure it out yourselves then pass dishes around until you sort it out. We told them we had separate checks with three couples and ordered accordingly, they still brought it as one and handed it to a random person at the table. We told them again to separate it so they brought a stack and left them while we tried to figure out which was whose. They were still wrong. The staff horse whistled horribly loud right next to me twice, which hurt and made my ears ring, before smashing someone's face into a dessert at other tables. Like a bad TV trope restaurant. You'd be better off microwaving frozen, the quality is about the same and the service...
Read moreFor showing up 45 minutes before their closing time, the staff was exceptionally attentive to my table's individual needs and our waiter not only had a great service personality but kept our salsa and chip bowls filled byt never overflowing. The food and speed between ordering and receiving our entrees was on par to match the exceptional service we received. Considering we were just out of my aunt's visitation- we were also honoring my aunt's memory by eating dinner after hrr visitation of her Favorite hometown Mexican Restaurant.
Finally I wan to send out my mom and my entire extended family's gratitude and admiration to Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church of Harrisonville and the rock of the parish Father Dan for their humble yet more than abundant outpouring of love, Shared Faith in the Holy Trinity and the compassion and uplifting of my uncle and my mother both- showing all who attended the Visitation's Rosary to the abundance of food, love, support of our Sisters and Brethren-all true testaments of faith and service to Our Heavenly Father's mission to comfort those in time of greatest need. Therein lies the strength I witnessed through the parishioners and friend of my family hopefully for many many more...
