It's a Mexican market. Most of the people speak English and Spanish some better than others on the English part. A few times I've been there I spoke English and they answered me in Spanish. I must look really Mexican. Go figure. Anyways they have all the usuals these types of markets have. Comparable to Chavez but a much bigger store. Also Chavez is more expensive but the quality of their meat department is better than Cardenas. Sometimes there's a long wait at the meat counter and be sure to pull a number or you'll be standing around for nothing looking like guero. They also have a decent sweet bread section and bakery. Customer service is pretty good and the produce is also pretty good.

We came here, while in the area, to do our grocery shopping! This market sent an email promoting itself as we decided to try it! It is located on a road away from the main through-fare, which was Mission Blvd! Parking was good! The small mall, where the market is the anchor, had a good selection of Latino stores and restaurants! Selection was good in all departments — bakery, meats, grocery, bakery, deli, takeout kitchen, etc. Service was good and prices were great! Not a fancy store but a great find for Latin - groceries!

Never in my life have I ever felt grossed out, we just went to this store and bought yogurt and of course me here craving it I took a huge scoops of it and it immediately made my mouth feel tingling and it tasted really bad. They sell expired yogurt and god knows what else. OSHA should come inspect and FDA

Lovely Jennifer a cashier. A lead who claimed to be manager , supervisor & owner. Apparently, there was no one above her and she was In charge, this kid decided to help a customer without waiting to call the entire line like she claimed to have the intention too, so only one customer followed her as she did not inform herself properly to the rest. My husband and I decided to go to her line, she kept rolling her eyes at me from her register, kept looking at us up and down and hollered in front of a customer I’m not helping you, I’m helping the long line my co worker has my shift is over anyways I don’t need to help you and as soon as we approached to place our things down she slammed the close sign right in-front of our things and even asked the customer in front of us are these your things? To prevent her ringing up our items. I do not care how many years this girl has working for Cardenas. A young man Hazael had better manners than she did, he de-escalated the situation without hesitation and kindly asked the customers can I help out these couple after he seen how loud the “lead” was getting with my husband. He also informed us yes she’s my lead but she’s lying our manager is on lunch. I seriously believe she should be fired or demoted from her position. She does not have the patience nor the knowledge to deal with customer service professionally. My mother has also dealt with her bad attitude and none of the managers at this location have taken the proper actions to deal with her attitude. She proceeded to have an argument with my husband in front of all the customers and we have videos of her acting like a fool from my husbands point of view and a gentleman behind us, I will definitely be calling corporate and if they don’t take action well we now know the kind of service they’re ok with providing their customers. It is never ok to yell at a customer, be loud and further escalate a situation in-front of your co workers and customers. Learn to have self control or find a different job. ✋🏻Especially in the...

No longer giving full service. The last few times I’ve shopped here they no longer bag your groceries, they just stand there while you bag or start scanning the next persons food while you are panicking and bagging as fast as you can. This has happened with me brining my own bags and also when they just threw their bags at me. When I asked my husband to go with me one time, so he could bag while I payed… we said “hola” to the cashier, she did not respond. I thought she only spoke English, so I started to talk to her in English (my first language)… she just looked at us but no reaction. I thought ok maybe she speaks another language as she was wearing a hijab. When I was paying and my husband frantically bagging I looked at her and looked at him to signal some kind of help bagging as she had some groceries closest to her that should could help with… she understood and bagged one single bag. She placed soft bread on the bottom and placed heavy raw chicken on top. My husband under his breath said is Spanish “the chicken goes by itself for cross contamination reasons”. She looked over and rolled her eyes. I finally spoke up and told her it was true and it was highly unprofessional to role her eyes. Trader Joe’s and Artiaga’s it is,...

We live pretty close here and LOVE Mexican food. We've been here a multiple of times, good decent selections of groceries which is why I put two stars. But something happened today for the third time. We went to buy some ready made food and stood around for 15-20 mins hoping one of the ladies would take our order but even though we are standing right in front of them and next in line they start talking to the people behind us and taking their orders. I should clarify we don't speak Spanish. I don't know if that makes a difference but like I said it's the third time it's happened. It's pretty upsetting when people who come after you speak over your shoulder, order and receive their food and when you start talking the women ignore you. We do think it's because we don't understand Spanish but we don't go here anymore despite it being basically next door. We drive to the Chavez Supermarket on mission which thank goodness we found. Has great food, clean and has huge seating area to enjoy...
