I'm generally pretty non-demanding as a customer, and I actually don't think I've ever complained with an online review about a business before. Also, I love the atmosphere of small towns like this one(the headland downtown square is so nice) and the people in Headland and Dothan(I'm working in the hospital on a contract 2 weeks on/2 weeks off) have been some welcoming. But this grocery store has been the only bad experience I've had here. I held off from writing a review after one subpar visit, but it's been multiple such visits now and so I decided to just drive to publix in dothan for grocery shopping while I'm here. There have been a few very pleasant and efficient check-out workers I've come across, but others on multiple occasions have been flippant, not wanting to listen to my question/concerns(and I wasn't holding up the line or anything; I'm always observant to make sure of that); and dismissive. I try to be a pretty patient person but when trying to explain my concern(on multiple different occasions), they were dismissive and kept repeating the same answer(that didn't really address the question). It's unfortunate such a fantastic small town with such character and nice people don't have a better option for grocery shopping. Maybe the times I was there I just caught them at a bad time? Anyways, it won't stop me from staying in the area for work and I'll...

Two previous times when I dined there, the meals were very good. This particular time, however, the food was not as good. You know us Southerners like our food spiced appropriately but I personally could not get my food salty enough to be really good. The pork loin was rather dry and not flavorful to me. The fried cornbread that before was awesomely crunchy and had just the right amount of salt, was this time soft and very plain tasting. The peach cobbler was just okay to me. Sorry guys, I was just personally...
Read moreThe Headland Hometown Foodcenter is our locally owned grocery store. While some towns with a single grocery store have to deal with higher prices for a convenience factor, not at Hometown. Their prices are not only reasonable but competitive with those of the big stores in bigger towns.
In addition to having freash produce year round, the produce section has seasonal selections from local growers and farmers supporting local families.
The meat market has a wide range of selections of fresh cut meat at very reasonable prices.
The staff is always friendly...
