Gus Gadgetz — Local services in Helendale

I use Ebay weekly to save time and travel. Today, for the 2nd time this month, PO Tracking said my item was delivered at 7am. I usually wait til after 4pm to go to the PO. ("First Class and junk mail flyers and paper trash get priority, sir"). No yellow card Friday or Saturday so, I went to the counter to inquire. The female wait-staff said "The tracking says the item is in your box". She actually went and checked my box...it still wasn't there. She gave me 3 papers claiming it was delivered to my box 2 days ago.She said I'll have to contact the Postmaster and file some missing mail BS. I've Googled how that's done to no avail. The only professional employee there with a willingness to help is AJ. Kudos to him. In the past, he would rummage around the back alleys of the building and come up with my missing package. A tip of the hat to him and his positive attitude. Them other ex-crash test dummies are useless...no...

I usually order through Amazon when I stay in Helendale (as they deliver directly). Unfortunately, one of my packages was sent through USPS instead of the normal Amazon delivery. I got a notification that there was an issue due to "wrong address" (as ordering packages through USPS calls for a PO box), and the package was returned the same day. I barely had a 4 hour window.

Unbelievable. Fortunately, Amazon will give me a refund and the item wasn't of import, but I'd imagine this would be a bigger matter for packages meant for birthdays or holidays, or if the senders' return policy was less lenient.

I'm leaving a 3 star review because USPS's site said they hold packages for up to 15 days (even my uni's post office held for a week!), but I do hold some fault for not double-checking to see if this particular package was going to be delivered through Amazon or...

I can see where people would say they are treated rudely, however I also have witnessed customers being rude to the employees, so it goes both ways. I don't however like that they lock the doors at night because I can only check my mail after work very late at night.

Not delivering mail is one of the worst things a post office can do, and this one doesn't deliver. This area isn't so big that they couldn't, and it's wrong because we have to pay for the same services as every other post office location, so why can't they deliver? I find myself supporting the USPS less and less every year because the USPS does less and less for customers every year. At the end of the day most, but not all of the employees are rude.
