In my dealings with M&M I will say, to their credit, that I had '1' (ONE) Ribeye steak that was the best I have ever eaten - juicy and tender with very little waste. I mistakenly assumed that this was the beginning of a new tradition for me - buying from a butcher instead of a grocery store. HOWEVER...every other Ribeye and N.Y. Strip steak that I have purchased from M&M has been TOUGH. I have spent the last year chasing the hope that the bad/ tough steaks were just a fluke and the good juicy steaks were the norm. NO!! The bad/tough steaks are the norm and that one Juicy Tender Steak was the fluke! When I say 'tough' I mean EVERY bite is a chore to chew. Not only that, it would be no exaggeration to state that at least 1/3 of each steak could be classified as 'waste' - fat and gnarly gristle that is too tough to be able to chew up. When I spend $16 or $17 a lb. for steak, you can be sure that I don't eat like this every night - it's a special treat. I don't appreciate spending that kind of money only to have 1/3 of my purchase remain on my plate as 'waste' and the rest of the steak being tough and chewy. I have purchased about 14 steaks total from M&M over the past year and ONLY 1 has been exceptional. The rest make me think they slaughtered a 15 year old bull. 13 out of 14 are tough and chewy with a large amount of waste. I'm done with this place, and...
Read moreI have absolutely NO complaints about the products or pricing. So far all purchases have been higher in quality than grocery store meats and the prices are competitive.
However, M&M is severely lacking in customer service. Myself and another customer were in yesterday; the other person finished their shopping first. We stood in a little queue at the register for about five minutes while at least two employees loafed around texting on their phones.
There were no greetings when myself or the other customer walked in. No offers of assistance, no mention of any specials (if any existed), no acknowledgement that we were there whatsoever.
I don't need the red carpet rolled out for meat shopping, but a sliver of customer service would be really great. I don't much want to ask about other options, special cuts, or anything when I'm being treated as if...
Read moreWas in Hendersonville a week or so ago and our hosts took us to this meat market. We live some distance away so we cannot get here often but on all future trips to the area we will bring an ice chest and fill it up from this market. Just about every type of protein was available and it all looked superb. We were not prepared to transport to much but we did pick up some beautiful dry pack scallops(they cooked up great), chicken breasts and sausage. I was also quite surprised at the prices, I don't expect competitive prices in a shop like this but everything I looked at was in line with the major supermarkets. Also had a great conversation with one of the butchers- I did not get his name but he was quite knowledgeable as well...
