Food Lion — Local services in Hickory

The employees are always friendly the management was not my husband and I have shopped at Food Lion for 19 years we lived in Hildebran so I shopped at in Hildebran or Longview we moved about 6 months ago to Mountain View was pleased when I seen that they had the Food Lion I have been there probably about 10 times had two very bad experiences with management my husband and I spent about $125 and on our way out of the store after checking out we were accused of stealing a drink of course we did not and went on our way with no apology or explanation I did not go back for 6 weeks I started shopping at Lowes food very satisfied a little bit higher on some things price wise was in a hurry so I swung by Food Lion in Mountain View thought I'd give him a chance standing in line at the cash register talking to one of the other customers and the manager comes up to me very irate and proceeds to tell me that I have been kicked out of Food Lion in Mountain View I had shoplifted I have no idea what he was talkin about explain he must be mistaken you must understand this man was yelling at me I am from 52 year old woman I have never stolen in my life and this is a manager of Food Lion I have never had anyone speak to me so rudely again I said you are mistaken and then he just walked off so I apologize to the cashier and the people around me for the manager at Food Lion of course I did not purchase my items and was so distraught I actually had to sit in the parking lot for about 10 minutes to compose myself I was so embarrassed when I finally told my husband about it 2 Days for my son and husband kept asking me what was wrong my husband has been an HR for 31 years and I had explained to me that I should have said something to higher up for the man obviously needed to be retrained or maybe could not handle the position he was given could have been having a extremely bad day but no case should have never spoke a customer that way and explain to me that's why they have 1 800 numbers to call Food Lion cannot fix what they do not know is broken what bothered me the most is if he spoke to me that way I can only imagine how he treats his employees but again I must say the employees in Mountain View Food Lion or extremely nice and helpful and I don't want to say the management is bad but I do want to say the manager I dealt with that day who I believe is the store manager is out of control and I am now taking further steps so that never happens to...

If you're gonna shop at this food lion, better to not go at night to avoid angry old ladies.

I stopped by after work to get groceries for the next week. I normally go in the mornings but it's ridiculously hot outside, and I didn't want to haul my two toddlers around the next morning.

When I got up to the registers, there was no cashier in sight. So I decided to do self check out. As I'm ringing up the items, the automated voice on the register goes off every time. Keeping in mind that I have a cart full of stuff, I turn the volume down so I don't have to hear the voice every time I scan an item. As I'm doing this, one of the angry old lady employees walks over and stands behind me, at that point I was already more than halfway through. She continues to watch me like a hawk, as if I'm going to steal something. I pull out my card, pay, put my stuff in the cart, and proceed to leave and go to my car. This angry old huzzy stops me and scolds me about turning the volume down. I explained to her I wasn't going to listen to that every time I rang something up. She then repeats herself, I said whatever and walked out the door.

I don't get paid by food lion to scan my items, bag them, and then TURN THE VOLUME BACK UP ON THE SELF CHECKOUT! She is literally getting paid to stand there, I'm a cashier, not at a grocery store, but I know that the job isn't that hard. Instead of her being rude and saying anything, all she had to do was walk over and turn it back up if that is their policy. I just scanned a cart full of groceries, bagged them myself, and you want me to do the rest of your job for you?

this food lion is clean an most of the employees are friendly. on one occasion not to long ago, i visited this store an as the saying goes.. haste makes waste... i was in a hurry, stopped in took out my wallet to pay for purchase, layed it on counter, grabbed my purchase, yep, i did leave the wallet! i drove 2 or 3 miles away before i realize i had. i turned my vehicle around an headed back, thinking its gone for good.. to my surprise, the lady i had checked out from, was there an looked up an said sir, you forgot your wallet, here you go... i thanked her..i cant remember the ladies name, but I KNOW they have at least one honest employee who...
