First let me say that I chose to buy a vehicle from the Hickory Used Superstore because I knew it was affiliated with Everett Chevrolet from which Iāve purchased several vehicles.
Vehicle - 2019 Ford F350 53,xxx miles.
Fast forward to purchase day. As I went to test drive the truck, I was handed the keys. Upon firing up the vehicle, it had 12 miles to empty. I proceed to tell the salesmen it was 12 miles to empty and he replies āwell, how far are you going?ā.
Hindsight, this is probably a tactic they deploy so that you canāt go far enough to determine whatās all going on with this vehicle.
With my short test drive, I purchase the truck. That was the start of my problems.
Friday December, 8th 2023 - First thing I notice is the windshield wiper fluid light on. I proceed to drive a short distance back to work, but on the interstate the truck has an obnoxious shake in the steering wheel, and you have to hold it 1/4 turn to the right to go straight. I called my salesman, ask for a mount and rebalance, an alignment, as well as, a fill up on wiper fluid. As I drive home from work, I pull into the grocery store with a LOUD pop when turning into a parking spot. This was the first notice of my biggest issue, but unknown at the time.
Saturday December, 9th 2023- Saturday morning, as promised I travel back to the dealership to give the spare key to the trade in. I ask to fill up the fluid while I was there, and they did. Itās currently raining and the wiper blades are toast. My mind said āitās used, no big deal, Iāll get new onesā so I drive to purchase new blades. $75. As I pull out of their parking lot, I get a light that says āTPMS monitor faultā and all 4 tpms show not working. Find out later that this code, and probably all other codes were reset so that no lights would be on until sensors go into āreadyā mode. I again alert my salesman of the ānewā issue and Iām told he will have it looked at.
Friday December 15th 2023 - 1 week from purchase date and SEVERAL reminders later I get my appt for rebalance of tires and alignment. I drop the truck off at 8:45am for a 9am appt. I ask the service advisor to check the brakes as they are pretty squeaky. He calls me to let me know that brakes are at 8% remaining life and need to be changed immediately with rotors. TPMS sensors are not even there, they just set the sensor to not ready so that it would take 50 miles for me to notice. Service advisor quotes me around $2,000 dollars in repairs. I then call to make sure Iām not the one paying⦠while they did cover the alignment, and rebalance.. I was to foot the bill for sensors.. I pay $300. They said they would pay for brakes, however, they didnāt approve new rotors. Fine. The biggest issue of all is found from the popping noise. An absolutely incredibly bent tie rod. Itās so far bent, that the knuckle for the drag link is catching so hard that the metal for the coupling is being split in two. Iām back in the garage at this point with the techs getting pictures. Even theyāre impressed with this kind of damage. Itās been wearing long enough to nearly rub a hole through the front diff cover. I leave at 4:30pm.
Iāve messaged and called with no reply over and over on this. My children ride in this truck, so obviously a repair is needed. I canāt get an answer and have been totally ignored. Iāve repaired this myself, as the truck was nearly useless in anything but a straight line. Turning radius was gone, not to mention the safety of my kids if that tie rod was the let go on the interstate hauling my excavator. Another $1,120 in repairs.
Iāve also been told this place rarely even does an oil change and general maintenance before selling a vehicle. Oddly enough, there is NO oil change sticker in the window, and after my experience⦠Iām inclined to believe it wasnāt done.
Be VERY careful with a purchase from this place as 3 others shared with me similar stories, and one possibly returning a purchase made a few weeks ago.
Iām highly surprised and overly disappointed that Everett attaches their name...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI purchased my vehicle (2019 Toyota 4 runner) from Hickory Used Auto Superstore in February 2025, we found the vehicle and decided on a price. I had already had my own financing preapproved before going to the dealership. We had agreed on a purchase price that included their fees as well as both tags and taxes on the full disclosure/purchase contract. We paid all of the fees including tags and taxes for vehicle I purchased. When I bought the vehicle they sent me a temporary tag with an expiration date of April 2025 so I thought I was okay through April of 2025 and they only paid 3 months of it. I then received a bill from the Forsyth county DMV charging me for my tag and taxes that dated back to February of 2025! Which means that the money we paid for tags and taxes for the year was never applied and they did not hold up the contract/bill of sale showing that we paid for a WHOLE YEAR for our taxes on the vehicle per our loan agreement. This means they pocketed the money as their "commission". When I bought the vehicle there were items that needed to be fixed in writing on the WE OWE contract that was signed by me and the dealership for the items that needed to be corrected on the vehicle when I bought it which included fixing the front struts and coils on both sides on the front of the vehicle, the parking break, the front fender, fender well, fender well trim and an all-wheel alignment. I took the 4runner back to them to have the items fixed, they sent it to a place called Redemption Diesel Performance and repairs. When I bought the 4 runner it had Bilstein struts on the front and back, when they were replaced, this should have been replaced with the same type of struts They put factory struts and coils back on the front and āfixedā the parking brake. I got the vehicle back and it was sitting 3 ½ inches shorter in the front where they did not replace the struts with the Bilsteinās which created the lift effect that we originally bought it with. The parking brake did not work at all. I called the dealership and let them know so they sent someone out and picked it up to fix the parking brake issue and the fender where you can clearly see that it is too tight together and is not aligned with the passenger side (the gaps do not line up). The fender well trim was fixed by not replacing the trim, they glued it back on to the body. They did fix the piece under the fender well that was pulling apart by bolting it back together. I called Redemption diesel and let them know that the struts they put on the front did not match the back (the Bilsteinās that were originally on the 4runner price at around $1500 or more this does not include installation) they clearly saw that it did not match up and put ā3ā lift blocksā on it instead since they had given the Bilsteinās away that were originally on the vehicle. At this point I contacted the GM by phone, and email and I was never given a return call or any kind of contact with to let her know the whole ordeal. Hickory brought my 4 runner back and I was still not happy, the fender was not fixed and the parking break still did not work. I was fed up and told them to bring it back to me. I got it back and the parking break was yet again NOT fixed. This went on 3-4 times I finally just told them to bring it back because they clearly were not doing the job correctly. I got my 4runner back and the parking break yet again DID NOT work! I ended up taking it to a local shop that I work with and low and behold they were able to diagnose the issue and fix the parking brake at my expense. I also took it to have it aligned and when I did the 4 runner had not been aligned so I paid for that as well out of my pocket! I contacted the GM multiply times with no response. This is poor customer service on their end! Please double check, triple check your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy son bought a low mileage Lexus with a Carfax that said minor damage. He wanted to buy himself without involving me as he is 24 years old, fine. I saw this car and rode in it and front right tire seemed out of balance at certain speed. So he took it to a reputable garage to get the tire checked out and the mechanic said it had been in a major accident, so I told him to take to reputable body shop to be looked at and he said the same thing that it had so many things bad it would take two hours to kist it all and it would cost 15 to 20 thousand to fix it. Almost as much as he paid for car. I almost vomited with this news. So I went with him back to Everett Superstore and confronted them. The salesman seemed genuine and brought out a body guy to look and he named off 10 things basically the whole front end and several other things and said they would fix for nothing which is commendable. I asked about the suspension and he said he was the body guy a suspension guy would have to look at that part of problem. I stopped him right there knowing that the frame was probably warped as the first guy my son took to said it needed major suspension parts including axles at 82k miles. So we decided to trade it back in for a different car that we had checked out thoroughly before he signed anything. The front windshield was cracked and I made sure it was on we owe so it would be fixed free of charge. It was promised to be fixed a few days later. He has called and called and 3 weeks later it still hasn't been fixed as he is told they haven't got hold of window guy yet. Safelight is less than 2 miles away and it could have been replaced the next day. I guess we will have to hire a lawyer. The bright side is that he is out of the original Lexus junk. The question I kept asking the Superstore was why would you set a car like this on your lot when your body guy comes right out and names thousands of dollars of work done that needs to be done unless your trying to shit someone. CRICKETS TO THAT QUESTION! I truly hope his windshield gets fixed without a lawyer getting involved and he gets the spare key they said they have but I have my doubts. Don't trust the Carfax and don't buy ANYTHING here unless you have it thoroughly checked our first as with any used car dealer. Paying someone reputable to look at it could save you thousands. Lot of cars on this lot r from up north so look underneath as the salt and brine eat metal. UPDATE## The appt was made to get windshield replaced right after this review was read by dealership and fixed. The spare key was also given. THE LEXUS JUNK IS SITTING ON THEIR LOT FOR SALE AND HASN'T BEEN TOUCHED. IBUYER BEWARE! MY SON WAS CONTACTED BY DEALERSHIP AND ASKED TO TALK TO ME ABOUT TAKING THIS REVIEW DOWN. I ALMOST DID BUT I DON'T WANT SOMEONE ELSE TO...
