I went to Hoods to get a higher toilet as a present for my inlaws. The ad advertised a toilet with lid for $69.99. However the lid did not come with it. Therefore I bought the lid for $35 and when installing one of the screws was faulty and had to go buy new ones. Then when installing toilet found out tank cover had two very noticeable blemishes. We live an hour away, but went bank to exchange. They went to look and all of this toilet tank covers and came back to tell us they all had blemishes. They said a new shipment would be in Thurs. Called Sat before I made a trip dow, and they said no shipment had come in, but they had my tank lid. When I got there, (3rd trip when I live an hour away), I was told it was off the display. I took it even though had minor scratch. Wasn't really noticeable. Got home to put on toilet and it was the wrong toilet tank lid. I now have to make a forth trip back. We have bought several items here, cabinets, flooring, doors, and even toilet with no problems. When I called and talked to the manager he made it right. The entire shipment was messed up. I've been going to this location for over 30 years. I moved away for about 10 years. The lay out of the store changed completely. The pros are it's all open and very clean. The cons are the store didn't carry as much variety in their product. I didn't end up purchasing anything because I didn't have to. I found what I was looking for in a pile of pallets outside the fenced area around the store that were free. I had just bought a twin sized bed, and all I needed was some boards to lay across the frame to support the box springs and mattress. Thanks to hoods, I found what I needed, and even better they were free. The cashier was a young lady, that was very friendly, easy to talk to, and was quick to hand me a tape measure when I asked. Absolutely terrible. We ordered french doors for our walk out basement and they told us it would take 2 weeks. 33 days later they finally were ready. They weren't priced any better than Home Depot/Lowes but we thought we might get a better quality door. Nope. Not impressed at all. They were rude, never called us back when we asked them to, and the mini blinds inside the glass were mounted improperly so they hang wrong. They only other thing we've ever bought from them was a night stand that was glued together instead of put together using wood screws and fell apart as we were unloading it from the car. Unbelievable. I would never use them for anything again. Stay away from this store.
