Located on the main thoroughfare of Tualatine Valley Highway, inside old-town Hillsboro, Oregon, this recreation center served the population of the city as well as people from all over Washington County, Oregon for several decades. Though the original facility included only one indoor swimming pool and another, outdoor swimming pool, the building and the facilities have been renovated and expanded to serve the growing population of the County. The facility was expanded over time with additional spaces that converted it to a complete sports activities gym. For those of you who like to swim, the generous Olympic indoor pool will meet your needs during the whole year. The outdoor pool is more appropriate for kids who like to cool off during the hot summer months. The large capacity hot tub is a good place to relax after taking one of a variety of physical fitness classes in the training room next door to the pool, or after finishing your pool lap count for the day. I particularly enjoy the group Cardio and motion classes that the recreation center offers. The instructors are very professional and I see many people with a large smile on their faces at the end of each class. This place is highly recommended to anyone who is health conscious, yet is not a complete zealot about their physical fitness. The only problem that I found so far is finding parking all around the vicinity of the Shute Park Recreation Center, during the Summer months, when kids are...
Read moreI went to the pool almost every day last week. On Monday we had called ahead to make sure we would have enough time to swim and we were given wrong information. (which is understandable mistakes can be made) we had to come back later throwing our whole schedule for the day out of whack. We were only told when open swim was starting, we were not informed when the safety check was going to happen, so when we arrived the second time we only had 15 minutes to swim before they get everyone out of the pool for 20 minutes. On Wednesday they tried to charge me for my 18month old niece. This also happened on Thursday and friday. The only reason I knew to ask about the over charge every single day was because I had been there previously, if I hadn't been there before and they just assumed how old the child with me was I would have been overpaying every single day. It's simple to ask how old the child is. I think there needs to be more front desk training and better communication among staff. I think they can ask how old a child is if they don't know if it's two or under, and they should also post their closure times for their...
Read moreWe’ve been members for 3 years and It’s a very nice facility but the employees and security are out of control. The lifeguards don’t enforce any kind of rules. They never pay attention to the pools or anything that’s going on. Someone could drown and none of the lifeguards would even notice. You do not need a swimsuit here because they allow everyone to swim in their everyday clothes including bras and underwear. I watch people go straight from the gym and into the pool wearing the same sweaty clothes they worked out in. If you have any type of complaints, no one will ever get back to you to help. They clean the bathrooms once every night. So if you come in during the afternoon or evening expect to find human feces, pee, and mounds of hair all over the bathrooms. They also allow absolutely anyone in the gym. There are constantly groups of 10-15 year old kids messing around in the gym. They also allow couples to kiss, make out, get on top of each other in any of the pools. Very inappropriate for a public family facility but none of the workers...
