My husband and I had lunch here and we really enjoyed it. The server was very attentive and amiable and our food was really good. My husband is from the southeast of Puebla, very close to the state of Oaxaca, so he's familiar with the Oaxacan cuisine. We've struggled to find Mexican food that we can recommend to friends without hesitation and now we can sincerely recommend this place. We shared the enmoladas with eggs and two tamales: one with chicken and mole and the other one with pork in green salsa (or "guisado verde"). The server made a mistake with the tamales and gave us one with rajas (slices of chile) but after we let her know, she brought us the one we originally ordered. The portions were generous but not outrageous and the flavor was really nice. I especially enjoyed the taste of the mole and my husband agrees with me. It tastes very, very similar to the mole he ate while growing up in Puebla. Since it was a bit cold outside, we ordered a champurrado (basically a hot chocolate with milk and corn masa to make it thick and smooth) and a chocolate de agua (with water instead of milk; this is a very typical beverage of Oaxaca). Our beverages were warm and delicious without being too sweet. After our meal, we wandered into the adjacent grocery store and we found a few items from our childhood that we haven't seen in years. Overall, we really liked the food and the service and we are sure we want to...

From Texas and craving Mexican food. A little research on REDDIT and I found. Review by a local born and raised in Oaxaca. He shared that the food at this restaurant was authentic, like what he was raised on as a kid.
Do I jumped in the car with my son in law and off we went. Walking into the restaurant I immediately thought it looked just like small family owned restaurants I have enjoyed all over Mexico.
A quick look at the menu and it is easy to see that this is not a throw down Mexican American restaurant. This is the real deal - a true Mexican restaurant.
I ordered the Chicken mole and my son in law had green chicken enchiladas. We had guacamole on the side and a green and a red salsa. OMG - it was all fantastic. The mole had a deep, rich and complex taste - incredible. The enchiladas were perfection. The guacamole was thick with big chunks of avocado - not a blended or over processed sauce. To drink - fresh juices that were absolutely delicious.
So from someone that has eaten Mexican food all over Mexico, trust me, you will find great food here at a good price. Give it a try - experiment a little -...
Read moreThe first time I ate here, I loved it. I thought it was the best margarita I’ve ever had. I was excited to return. I showed up after work. I ordered a margarita and the young person at the cash register said they wouldn’t have a bartender for an hour and a half. I left. The second time I went there I took a friend. I made sure that they were open at 11 o’clock on Saturday. We showed up at noon. The sidewalk advertising placard was out. The restaurant was locked. I called the number on the placard. I was told the staff were at the other restaurant. I drove from a distance and recommended the restaurant to my friend. If you don’t have staffing, change your hours. Update your hours on your social media and website. Pull in your sidewalk placards. The community invested a lot of charity money getting this restaurant up and running after the fire. It’s disrespectful to the other area merchants who are trying to revitalize downtown Hillsboro. Nothing will kill a business quicker than false...
