My daughter, who lives 800 miles away, sent me four beautiful skeins of yarn. I decided I would like to use it to knit a wrap or a shawl for her but needed help with figuring out what I could make. I live an hour from the store so I called to ask if someone there could help me before I made the drive. Julia was wonderful! Even though the store is closed to foot traffic, she helped me find a pattern suited to my knitting level that will work with the yarn I have and is a free download from Ravelry. This shop is so well-run, friendly, and has what you need in stock! I was looking for 16" circular knitting needles in a few sizes, and all the other local shops were sold out (I guess baking bread is out and knitting is in for the new quarantine hobby!) but Hillsborough Yarn Shop had what I needed in stock, in a variety of brands and styles, with a wide price range. This is a superb store for knitters of all levels. The selection of yarn is wide and beautiful but what elevates it beyond most other stores are the people. Anne and Julia (and others) are always welcoming and happy to give advice. When I push myself to try a harder pattern, I know I can always come in for help.
