Los Altos brick and mortar restaurant has a nice feel to it. The staff work hard to cook and serve your meals in a timely fashion. Whether dining inside or outside on the sidewalk service is prompt and the food arrives fresh and hot. The prices are fair and the servings are plentiful for the price. However, I have two complaints. The Carne En Salsa (Fried pork in salsa with cactus, served with beans and rice with tortillas on the side) is short chunks of ribs and is very good. However, the meat is still on the bones. Since the rib chunks are covered in sauce and are difficult to see, a person could unsuspectedly chomp down on a bone and break a tooth. Worse, some of the bone fragments are about the size of a dime that could be swallowed or become lodged in the throat. The burritos are tasty and full of ingredients. However, I feel they are too big. "More is better" is not always true. If the burritos were half the size I think customers would still be satisfied. The price could be lowered by 25 % and the restaurant would make more money per portion. I do not think customers would be dissatisfied with that. I have been here several times and will most...
Read moreThe food is excellent but the service is hit or miss. I went here twice in one week and the first time was for lunch, we were one of two tables there and every thing was excellent. I went back later that week for dinner on a Friday and it took forever, my friend was late and we didn’t order in time so by the time they came back to get our order another table who arrived after us had ordered, eaten and left before we could get our order in. So my advice is go here for lunch or get takeout. And if you go, get your order in as quickly as you possibly can, because they might not come back around for another 15 minutes. There are only a few employees so timing is really important. The food is amazing and probably my favorite Mexican food in Hillsborough but they are short staffed and it’s a small space so keep...
Read moreTacos Los Altos is a new food truck in the Hillsborough area. I had two of their tacos, the pollo and the asada. They were both well spiced, though frankly I thought both of them were on the dry side. They were served with sauteed onions and cilantro on corn tortillas, and the truck had an assortment of salsa options to spice the food to your liking.
The food is quite authentic, but isn't the tastiest I've had. I waffled on whether to give 3 or 4 starts here, but settled on for largely given the price range. It was like 5 bucks for the two tacos!
Given the dirt cheap price and authenticity of the food, if you're craving a quick Mexican lunch this is a split you...
