UPDATE:
So sad to lower my review. While not much has changed; Good movies, easy free parking, reasonable prices, older crowd, etc, on a recent trip for an early afternoon bargain matinee i was disappointed. No Popcorn! Whatâs a movie in a theater without popcorn. I asked the clerk behind the counter about it and he said they ran out last night. Well if you ran out last night how do you not have all morning to rectify the problem. Loring is part of Patriot Cinema chain, so why not get some help from another theater. Iâm 70 years old and have been going to the movies for over 60 years. One of my first jobs was working in a theater as an usher( kids ask your grandparents). One of my other jobs was making popcorn for the theater all day Saturday for the week. We never ran out and iâve never been to see a movie and not be able to buy popcorn. Whatâs next, going to a Sox game at Fenway and finding out they donât have any hot dogs for sale? Inexcusable!!! On another note itâs winter so that means itâs cold inside. Hardly ever heat on inside the theater and they need to install a door between theater and lobby. Help talking during the movie is disturbing.
Our go to theater to see a movie. Will only go to a âComplexâ if we canât find the movie at the Loring. We have been going here for years. Older crowd which makes it so much more enjoyable for folks over 50.(68&65). For some of the criticism, I found most of it false and unwarranted. I have never had a problem parking. There is unlimited street parking in the area. Unless you canât walk a little or get there âfashionably lateâ parking shouldnât be a problem. There are cup holders for the person who didnât see any. Seats are very comfortable. They are soft and move back a little. I have numerous back, hip and knee issues and have never been uncomfortable at the Loring. ââThis is not an artsy Coolidge Corner or Brattle Square type theater. It shows current movies almost as soon as all the other theaters. Prices are very reasonable with Senior discounts and bargain times. Concession prices are also reasonable and there is never a long line like at the Cinema Complexes. If you are over 50 and you donât enjoy the experience of the Loring then your only...
Read moreI love the Loring! Not only is there always a good movie showing 3 times a day, the prices are unbeatable and so is the atmosphere. It's always quiet here and the seating and concession areas are always kept clean. All I can hope is that everything stays that way and that the theatre continues to fulfill its niche here in Hingham for generations to come. Thank you to all of the hard-working staff for making every moviegoing experience here an outstanding one for me and my family and thank you for always putting comfort and quality first. Small theatres like this help to make film accessible to everyone in the community, which is so so important, not just to me but to many others. Not only that, but the types of films that are shown here of more than just entertainment, they are works of art. I know when I come to Loring I am going to get an enriching and engaging form of entertainment in a quiet and comfortable setting. That being said, I can always look forward to my next visit. Thanks again to the staff and to the community for keeping this place running and for sharing my passion for quality...
Read moreLoring ever so occasionally has a good movie, though typically these don't stay long (or like, say, "Mr. Turner" a good film arrives late at Loring, only after you've gone to Boston, Cambridge, or Newton to see it). Usually, Loring is the venue for feel-good movies -- repetitive, fungible "heart-warmers" for superannuated sensibilities (how many quirky Maggie Smith movies are there? or Helen Mirren as elderly-action-figure films?) -- and you can rely on these bookings to overstay their welcome by two, three, or more weeks. Despite the array of good movies to pick from, Loring can be relied on for "tasteful" schlock. Doubtless, it's the demands of box-office receipts just to stay in business. Loring needs to hire someone who still has a pulse to...
