I give the restaurant 5 stars. I give most of the clientele 0 stars. We were there Sunday (10/30) for lunch. Our party had 5 adults with two 5 month old babies and a 2 year old toddler. While we stood there for 10-15 minutes — along with several parties of elderly women also looking for tables — we were witnesses to incredibly rude and selfish behavior on the part of many patrons. One table for four was commandeered by two high schoolers (the "pride" of Notre Dame according to their scattered paperwork) who were obviously going nowhere, doing their homework while —maybe — nursing a cup of coffee. (Is there no library in town?) One girl had her feet up on a chair so as to make sure no one would try to use it. Next to them a man sat alone at a table for 5. At a table for four, two women sat talking — not eating or drinking —.for the entire 45 minutes we were there. Most other tables had similar issues. As a group, these locals were totally oblivious to and uncaring about the needs of others. They selfishly sat in limited seating — oblivious to and uncaring for the situation around them — while others were forced to stand and wait for these socially inept individuals to do the right thing: wrap up their meals in a timely manner, or offer open seats, consolidate with others (you might meet other nice people -- but probably not) and be considerate. Perhaps two years of Covid have erased any social graces these people once may have learned and demonstrated. But if this is what Hingham is like ….you can have it. Hopefully the management will devise some strategies that will engender consideration and kindness from this thoughtless and self-absorbed lot .…for the mutual...
Read moreWe enjoy supporting small local businesses, but this place is filthy inside they don’t clean up after customers come and go. We struggled to find a clean table and a clean section of the floor, which was literally sticky under foot. The windows looking out onto this beautiful Hingham Square were filthy. I killed two flies with the napkins that were on the window next to me. The area where the coffee, creamers and napkins and other such things I was filthy didn’t want to touch anything. Can’t help, but wonder if this place would pass an inspection by the board of health. If the front of the house looks like it did imagine what the kitchen must be like or the cooking area. Take a few minutes come out from behind the counter and wipe down the tables clean up the area wash the damn floor. It was disgusting. Look at the pictures I posted that’s underneath the table on the floor and that’s the table stand itself. That doesn’t look like it’s been cleaned in years. We will not be coming back to this place. And quite frankly, I haven’t decided if I’m reporting it to the Hingham...
Read moreThis was our first visit on June 16 at 9 a.m., and the selection offered, both for baked goods, pastries, drinks, and granola, is immense. The establishment was very busy and a line formed soon after our arrival. The server must've been thinking more about how to get thru the line quickly as she did not truly listen to my order, which I had to repeat or clarify three times. There is indoor seating, but due to the line, it would go near the tables and perhaps be disruptive. We did not purchase any food, and the coffee (regular brewed) was nothing special, but served it's purpose, and the strawberry fruit smoothie was just that. I believe if you went in with a group of friends to have a light breakfast (bagel or fruit bowl), you would be satisfied and pleased with...
