I recently had the pleasure of dining at Square Cafe with my family on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon. We chose to sit on the patio, which turned out to be an excellent decision. The weather was perfect, and the patio was adorned with gorgeous flowers that added to the charm of our meal.

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the manager, Gus, who was absolutely adorable and made us feel right at home. His friendliness set the tone for what turned out to be a memorable dining experience.

We started our meal with Brussels sprouts and calamari, both of which were excellent appetizers that whetted our appetites. For our main courses, two of us decided to try the new peach salad on the menu. It was a refreshing and innovative dish that perfectly captured the flavors of the season. Additionally, we ordered the cod and salmon, both of which were cooked to perfection and incredibly flavorful.

The food was nothing short of delicious, but what truly stood out was the impeccable service we received from our server, Kaio. His attentiveness and friendly demeanor made our lunch even more enjoyable. Kaio’s service was top-notch, earning a well-deserved 10/10.

Very unimpressed with this place. Went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon with my wife for our Anniversary. Place was not overly busy at all. Easily 8-10 open tables inside. We were greeted and seated, no problem. Water came shortly after. It was another 5 minutes before the bartender acknowledged us and was apparently our waiter as well. We were not seated in the bar area. He was busy making drinks and said he would be right with us. All the time there were 2 hosts, one of which caught my eyes more than a couple times, looking at us. I was hoping he would at least come take a drink order. Another 4-5 minutes went by and the bartender/ waiter came to take our order. He was pleasant and apologized for the wait. Which wasn't totally his fault, the restaurant was probably understaffed. That didn't excuse the poor customer service, in my old school eyes. No paying customer should go to a restaurant or bar and wait 10 minutes before your drink order is even taken. The food did come quick as we did not order an app. It was just mid to me. I had the California turkey club. I could have gotten the same version or better at a much less expensive restaurant. Just a plain white bread sandwich. Not even a traditional triple decker club. It was not tasty enough to have me go back, nor was my wife's lack of seasoning, fried cod sandwich. Drinks were good, but again, nothing to make me want to go...

I was in the restaurant industry for 20 years. Now, I love the other side of it but I am super critical of the places I go. With that, this is my first review on line.. I had an Amazing dinner tonight at the Hingham location. Started with a Cosmo and rustic bread. Both fantastic! The cosmo put me right in the mood for a Friday night, if you know what I mean.. ;-) Then ordered the sticky ribs and a glass of Valpolicella. Wine was alright but the ribs were to Die For!! Next up. I ordered the Cod and my friend ordered the the noodles. Hers was sweet and delish but mine was... Fantastic!! Perfect portion of slightly breaded cod over fingerling potatoes, heir covert and carrots, sitting in a lemon beurre blanc that you could drink. Finished with 2 espresso martini's and the coconut cake to take home. Yes I was buzzed at this point but boy oh boy.. That was the most amazing cake I have EVER had! It had a side of Raspberry and semi sweet glace' that I drizzled on top and I was in heaven.. My husband ate it with me at home and he was sober as a judge. He said the same. OUTSTANDING!! All I can say it .. Make that resi because it is SOOOO worth it!! BTW-- The service was fantastic as well. There when you wanted them, not when you you didn't. Perfect! 10...
