Visser Ace Hardware — Local services in Holland

One of my year-end grievances: This is a really nice store but last summer, I did have two old codgers tell me, a woman, that there was no way to fix my once used, fairly new weed trimmer. It just needed the head removed and plastic blades replaced. They demonstrated this "inability" to do this by using a tool that was obviously the wrong size. As I was watching, I could see that the brief theatrics were beyond amateur. Then, they had the nerve to tell me that it wasn't fixable. Any person could see that the two of them were incapable. I had it fixed, no problem, later on. It was unfortunate that my late father bought this, with no tools or instruction book, from a local dealer, and he bought it with me in mind. He knew his days were numbered. Father died only months later. He wasn't completely well when he purchased this trimmer (not the best rated Stihl trimmer, by the way) but he thought they were "nice guys" as they gave him a John Deere hat. CHEAPSTER crooks do such things. Anyway, if you want basic advice on how to fix a basic problem DON'T consult with the old wasps...

I have been visiting Visser Ace Hardware for almost a year, and I can confidently say this is the best Ace Hardware store I've ever been to. Here's why: Every time I walk through the door, someone is there to greet me and help me find what I'm looking for. I never have to wait, and they always welcome me with a smile, knowing me by name. If they don't have what I need, they order it for me, and it's available within a few days.

No other store I've been to offers this level of customer support and kindness. The genuine care shown to customers as they walk through the door is amazing. Other Ace Hardware stores could learn a lot from Visser Ace Hardware about handling their customers. In other stores, salespeople often just sit around doing nothing, but that's not the case at Visser’s. Their customer service is the best in Holland. I am willing to drive 28 minutes from Grand Haven to Holland to receive such exceptional service. Thank you for providing great hometown...

Great place, very knowledgeable, lots of great specialty services if needed, a great neighborhood resource. However, sometimes lacking power tool selection and raw materials of big box stores as well as big box store pricing- they can be twice as much as the big guys down the road for the same Chinese made item go figure? You pay for convenience and almost one stop shopping in the south end of town- they are worth your patronage if you can afford it and dislike the mentality and service of box store zombies who do not know very much and are too busy to help make the sale.
