The Tour! Yes, Stovetop has a COFFEE TOUR! I do not believe that it’s well known about, but it is normally once a month on the second Saturday. This tour is behind the scenes and a full sensory experience. You will have the opportunity to feel, see, smell, and taste coffee from a raw state all the way to a finished cup. Wait, did I leave a sense out, oh yeah, sound! Did you know coffee makes sounds when it’s roasted? Just ask, they will tell you all about it. The tour is great for people who know nothing at all about coffee or the aficionado who wants to nerd out on coffee origins, equipment, roast levels, etc.
DO IT! You won’t be disappointed. It has to be one of the best VALUED tours ever! It’s only $20 per person, you get free coffee during the tour, and a bag of coffee at the end of the tour (you get to pick the bag!).
In order to book the tour you need to go to their website, then click events. It’s currently the only tour they offer. Oh, and seats are limited to 6 which is nice.
On to the Coffee… read the other reviews. Everything we have had is great. You can’t go wrong.
The staff… we normally run into Bell or Braydon. Service is exceptional, they are truly passionate about coffee, and some of the nicest people we have met.
Finally, they also have FRESH baked goods from Smitten Bakery. I love the scones.
Half-way through this review my wife told me I was writing too much, but I couldn’t...
Read moreThird-wave coffee has yet to populate Michigan’s western coast the way breweries have. I personally enjoy buying locally roasted beans when traveling but have often had to stock up in my own city before heading up Michigan’s coast for a getaway.
Stovetop occupies a convenient stop off 31 and welcomed me in just moments before closing time. Staff was friendly and informative, even offering a sample of their Steeped Coffee Brew Bags as I mentioned we were camping for the week.
I went with their Wildflower Blend and Uganda Natural Process, the former truly satisfying my desire for a light, floral roast that is difficult to find, yet so necessary, in a small beach town.
Stovetops packaging is clever and comprehensive, sharing details on brewing and the beans inside with colorful language indicative of its locale. The branding and illustration style offer a friendly face to those who may find third-wave’s more clinical branding trends intimidating.
While I hope to see more roasters pop up along the lake in the coming years, Stovetop is sure to remain a regular stop for us on every pass...
Read moreWe each ordered a coffee, cute latte art. The espresso had thier signature blend, which was good. Bought a bag of a lighter roast(and I can't remember the name exactly but it was Uganda something?)that was recommended to us by the employee there, was slightly taken aback by the price (I believe $16 for a 10 oz bag?) Until we got home and used it in our espresso machine and now I want to drive 3 hours back there to get 10 more bags. It was a treat for sure but damn, my husband and I both looked at each other and said in the five years we have had our espresso machine this was by far our favorite small batch coffee we have ever had in it. It was so smooth and delicious! Definitely try...
