I generally go to the Springfield and West Springfield Stop N Shop and never have an issue. Michelle from the Springfield Stop N Shop is amazing. I made the mistake of showing my mom the Peapod program and brought her to the Holyoke MA one. I usually never have an issue with Peapod but of course since my mother was present I had to encounter the worst customer service associate of all time. First all the Peapod parking spaces were taken. I was one over. When Mary came out she asked me to move into one of the spaces that had opened. I don't drive due to an eye condition and my hubby had run in to get trash bags and antacids. I told her if she needed me to move, she'd have to wait a few minutes. She said no problem but then went inside and started bagging. I found my husband and went to her and told her he was moving the car and she was needed outside. I went to the cashier aside her to pay for the antacids my husband was holding but she didn't know I was there. She said with a smirk, "Now I'm going to take my sweet ass time." As she didn't know I was standing there, when I confronted her and told her she wasn't going to take her sweet ass time, she freaked out. It got worse when I advised that I'd be calling the corporate office and that I know those there quite well (I've called countless times to give people like Michelle from Liberty St Springfield MA compliments because she's wonderful) she began screaming and finally crying about it. The cashier kept telling her to shut up because she was acting insane as she then went to the male customers in line and said, "I'm glad you guys are here to see what's happening" attempting to flirt her way into getting people to agree with her. Well that didn't sit well with the customer service rep at the desk who then came over and tried to get her to stop until Brian the manager came out and sent her away. Now, to be clear, I don't want a freebie. I don't want a gift card. I don't need them. I don't expect them. I expect Mary to be fired. That said, Brian - the manager was polite and did come out and assist in completing the Peapod order. I also called corporate who as always answered professionally and was extremely polite. Out of courtesy, I advised I would hold off on posting this ordeal on SSR until I speak with the district manager to hear his/her plans to move forward. Hopefully, this will be handled quickly. I spend my money at Stop N Shop. I donate for any and all causes they collect for. They put up bags of food for Open Pantry, I buy them. They ask for $10, $20 for fighting hunger, I give it. In the last 5 years I've called Stop N Shop 20 times - all for compliments. This is the only time I've ever called with a complaint and it was a big one. The produce is the worst part of the store. It's nearly all bruised, black moldy and very limited in selection. It you've been to other Stop & Shop stores you'll likely agree that it seems the worst produce on hand is all which is sent to the store. A major problem is the things you always buy are very often not available when you go there. The store is dirty and extremely poorly maintained. The major redeeming benefit of the store is the exceptional staff. Extremely friendly, often remember you and will help find things if possible and if not will order them for rapid delivery and will call you to tell you those items are in.
