Yesterday, I observed a very disturbing situation. I watched an elderly woman walk out of Office Depot pulling a moving dollie behind her. She was very frail, it was hot, humid, in the middle of the day. I walked up to her and asked her if I could help. I'm grateful she said yes. While we walked to her car slowly in the heat, I learned a lot about her. She's a regular customer and her birthday is next week. She will turn 100 years. I told her she was my inspiration. We talked about her son and grandson. I shared my children and grandchildren with her. I was honored to help her. I loaded the dollie into the back of her car, then made sure she got into her car ok. I offered my phone number to her in case she needed a ride somewhere but she politely declined. I made mention of putting on her seat belt and waited for her to leave. I couldn't believe she still drove. I gave her my blessings and wished her well and a Happy Early Birthday. After that I went into the store and spoke with BIANCA. I mentioned my encounter with this fragile woman and BIANCA stated to me, "Yes, she's a regular customer". My response to her was, it really bothered me that NOT A SINGLE EMPLOYEE STEPPED UP TO HELP THIS WOMAN TO HER CAR. In addition, I said we need to do Better as a Community and help our Elder Generation. It's the Principle of things. Bianca's attitude and demeanor was totally unprofessional and unacceptable. Telling me "Well I'm glad you were there", clearly demonstrated her lack of empathy and compassion. My reason for this post is to share my life experience with you in hopes that more people will step up and help their community. I'm grateful that God put me into this woman's path at the right moment and at the right time. I am forever grateful for having met this woman. A simple act of kindness...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI could not be more disappointed with the photocopy Department! Don't waste your time or money! I went in on Thursday June 2nd. Young lady Shayane took my order for save the date birthday announcements, with a photo in the background. I was told that someone would send me a proof of the card by Saturday and the order would be ready by Monday. However I did not hear anything Saturday so I called Sunday no one could find the proof or the picture I left or any instructions from Shayane!?! Calked back Monday and was told Shayane would be back Tuesday to complete my order?!? (My mistake was paying upfront because I trusted Shayane!) On Tuesday I received a email with the proof the card looks fine the print was NOT covering the eyes or mouth of the picture!?! Picked up the order on Wednesday only to find all 100 announcements had the print across the eyes and mouth of the photo in the background hence making it useless for the effect initially wanted! Maybe it was spite by the members of the Office Max photo department, since I called to question why I was neglected as...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm always satisfied whenever I visit the OfficeMax Store in my hometown, Inverness Florida, even if I'm just dropping off a package for FedEx at the Print Center. No matter the transaction, the OfficeMax associate waiting on me always uses my last name when addressing me during checkout, or whatever. This may seem trivial to some patrons, but to me it says the person that's handling my transaction is paying attention to every detail concerning my order, and then tweeking it with a shot of professionalism by using your name when speaking to you about your customer experience!
Kudos, OfficeMax to your training or re-training programs for new and existing store associates! And finally, no worries, I won't give up your secrets to other retailers and possibly competitors that should already be doing the same!
We'll let them figure that out on their own (if they're able)? I haven't seen this common practice of OfficeMax anywhere, so I'm not holding my breath! Again, Kudos to you, OfficeMax!!
Best Regards, Steve...
