The good news: cleanest I've ever seen the place. Prompt service. The bad: movie times listed changed in a one day period, inconvenient. Half of the arcade games aren't on. The one I used that was on, was in desperate need of some maintenance (buck hunters not so fun if the aim is off, 1 inch left and 1.5 down). There's a little vending machine with cute stickers, but no way to get quarters, because the arcade uses tokens (bring small change, no need to sink a large bill for 2 malfunctioning games). No one seemed to know if the theater was ready for us to go in or not. Could hear the neighboring theater loudly during quiet scenes.
The exceptionally bad: the seats. The frickin seats. The worst. I go to this theater maybe once a year, and each time I remember that I'd rather drive 40 minutes to a more expensive, more crowded theater than sit in those awful seats. By the end of a movie, I'm in pain everywhere. And they're so small, so so small. I admit I'm not so small, but I'm pretty average sized, and I can barely get in and out because I have to squeeze through the arm rests, at which point I'm basically cuddling my neighbor. To lift my drink, I had to reach with my left arm across to the right drink holder, or elbow my neighbor out of the way, apply due to the tiny seats. And for what purpose? There were 7 people in the entire theater, including my party of 3. Probably because no one in town wants to sit in those seats. They are literally the number one reason I will not be signing up for their movie pass program or whatever they call...
Read moreThis theatre desperately needs improvements, but we still support them. However, it's getting harder to support them, and keep coming back, with so many issues! They rarely get any "new" movies geared towards adults/middle aged folks; they seem to show more kids movies than anything. The theatres are old school seating and huge, which is fine, but it really needs a deep cleaning. This last visit was pretty gross, with many rows of seats having caked up grime/soda clearly visible on the backs of seats, and hand rest areas. Some of the arcade games take quarters, but some take "tokens" you have to buy from an old machine by the door - clearly this was confusing, which lead to several dollars in quarters being eaten by the "tokens only" machines that were not marked in a way that was easily visible. They have a self-serve ticket kiosk at the door, but it said "card read error" for three different cards I tried - the only option is to slide, no chip. An associate rang us up at the snack bar, after sliding my card aggressively up and down the strip of the card machine to get it to work. All of the employees are polite, friendly, and helpful - but they agree that this place needs HELP. This is the only theatre left in this area, without having to drive to Ocala or Spring Hill. The owners should invest some effort into this place. I can live with all the old-school issues, if they simply played...
Read moreHey - Devin the roving Real Estate agent here - stopped by for a movie.
When I found out it was opening night for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, I HAD to get to the nearest theater, and I arrived just minutes before the last showtime here. Luckily, the theater was relatively empty! Granted it was a Thursday night and Inverness is a fairly small place. Hey, you won't hear me complaining... The theater was decent - no stadium seating here, or luxury seating, but it works.
The bathrooms were pretty clean, and though like the rest of the building they were pretty dated, I didn't expect much in this stripmall. In fact, I'd never even realized you could have a movie theater in a regular little strip mall. I was plesantly surprised.
The amenities are limited. Of course they have popcorn, and perhaps my own wants are unique, but I was surprised they didn't have coffee.
For what it is, I give 4 stars - they're doing their best in their small location, and frankly... A larger location simply doesn't seem to be...
