I bought a new ladies Liv hybrid bike (baby blue, very cute) from Sourland Cycles. I was upgrading from my old Schwinn road bike. I was excited to make the shift from a leaning-forward type of bike to a sitting-back-and-relaxing type of bike. But I was sad to discover that in the first month of me biking around NYC (where I live) I started experiencing knee pain from riding. I asked around to a few guys at bike shops in New York to see what might be causing it -- was it the fact that it was an upright seat? That the weight distribution and angle was bad for my knees? They gave me some pointers, but didn't seem that invested in a solution.

Then I called Mike from Sourland (the owner who sold me the bike) and asked him what to do and how to solve the issue. He had me describe what I was experiencing in detail and referred me to the bike fitter they had in store, Carrie. She called me the next day and talked through the issue with me, telling me exactly where my knee should be at different parts of my stroke. Mike also suggested that I move my seat forward so there was more weight on the handlebars. All of their suggestions worked and now I know exactly how to adjust my bike if I start experiencing knee pain.

I was so impressed by and appreciative of their care and concern towards my problem, and the speed at which they got back to me to discuss it with me. In addition, the buying experience in-store was really awesome. Mike was wonderful and patient in allowing me to try out all different bikes and make sure I had exactly what I was envisioning. Really great shop, great service!

P.S. Love their vending machine outside! So cute!

Totally...

After having a horrible buying experience at a dealer 3 miles from my home (they are in Bound Brook, NJ), I decided to cancel my order for 2 bikes, 1 Giant Hybrid and 1 Liv as well as some accessories and go to Sourland Cycles in Hopewell, NJ. Sourland Cycles is 35 miles from my home, worth the trip without question.

Initially I spoke to Laura on the phone, which made me comfortable that this dealer offered much better customer service than my local dealer. We took the trip to Hopewell and met Adam (I hope I got your name right as we were never officially introduced) and Colin, they were very attentive and knowledgeable which meant a lot to us, having had such a horrible experience from the local dealer.

We placed our order on Saturday and I received a call Tuesday evening that the bikes were in and assembled, ready to be picked up (nice touch, the previous dealer didn't call me a week after I placed my order, I called them, they said they would call me back and still haven't.)

Yesterday, Wednesday I went to pick up our bikes, Adam greeted me and mentioned he raised the handlebars, because he remembered we liked to sit up a little more erect while riding, I really appreciated that extra attention. Mike gave us a couple water bottles as a thank you for the purchase, very nice touch and helped me load the bikes into my SUV.

This was such a great buying experience and high level of customer service, that I/we will never go anywhere else for my/our cycling needs.

Thank you all.

Alan

If you're looking for a bike shop that delivers a great customer experience with exceptional service every time, look no further than Sourland Cycles.

Bikes have become increasingly technical to maintain and repair, so I think of owning a bike a bit like owning a car. It’s not just about which brand you buy, but also about having a dealer you can trust and rely on throughout the entire lifecycle of riding and maintenance.

I just purchased my third bike from this shop, and I continue to be impressed. The team is fair, honest, knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely focused on the customer.

Not all bike mechanics are created equal — I trust their service department with all of my family’s bikes. They take the time to explain issues clearly, educate you about your options, and make thoughtful recommendations. They only sell what you actually need — no upselling, no pressure, and no negative attitudes.

I was especially impressed with their attention to detail when setting up my new bike. From dialing in the fit to adjusting the pedals and shoes, they really make sure everything is just right for your comfort and performance. It's the little things like this that set them apart.

I also appreciate that there are women on the team. When my daughter was having discomfort with her bike seat, it really helped that she could talk to another woman who understood the issue and offered a practical solution. That kind of personal experience made a big difference for her.

After three bikes and years of service, I wouldn’t go...

Mike, Tom, Adam and the whole Sourland Cycles team are awesome. My boyfriend and I were looking to upgrade our mountain bikes and we searched for several weeks just to find a shop in which we felt confidence and peace of mind in the service. We were looking for a shop that we could continuously rely on through bike maintenance, gear, and upgrades. Sourland Cycles is that shop. Their genuine friendliness, product knowledge, and customer service is unparalleled. Anyone can carry a product and spew component specs. The individuals in this shop offer so much more -- a sense of community, integrity, and trust. And that's what we have been searching for. We purchased 2 Giant bikes and a hitch rack that week. When we realized the dropper post of my bike was just a tad too big , Mike took care of us, exchanged it out, and Tom installed the appropriate size. We could not be happier with the entire experience. Mike -- thank you and thank you to your team. You guys are the bomb. You'll be seeing us around. By the way, the bikes ride like a DREAM!

Bought a bike there this past weekend. Went to many other bike shops and the service from sourland cycles was head and shoulders above the others. They really care that you are buying the exact right product for yourself. The spent a lot of time adjusting every single test bike I road and making sure it was the best possible product. Extreamly happy customer. Update: was so happy with everyone’s service, Katie,Emmet, and Alex I returned and bought a second bike, then returned and bought a 3rd bike for my wife. Have also been back multiple times for accessories and parts and everytime they spend a lot of time with me to make sure everything is perfect and I am incredibly satisfied. I highly recommend this bike shop

Absolutely love that we now have a local shop to call home. My son just learned to ride his bike which prompted me to dig out my bike, but after years of neglect it needed some work. In the meantime I also purchased a new Stumpjumper from a friend who shipped it to me from Florida and it suffered some damage at the hands of FedEx. Mike and his team were able to get it in quickly, resolve the issue and get me back on the trail the same day! These guys know their stuff! They communicate well, are transparent though the entire process and are prompt, polite and professional. Thank you very much and I look forward to getting the old Stumpy back once you guys give it the love it has been needing for so long!
