I recently attempted to purchase a firearm as a gift for my fiancé to add to his collection. During the process, he provided a current address but needed to update his information on his licensing permit. Initially, this seemed manageable. However, when I mentioned that he has two residences and could provide proof of address for either, the woman at the counter stated that if a mistake was made, he could start the process over. Unfortunately, they did not allow him to do so and insisted it was against the law. We accepted this explanation and decided to address the issue the next morning.
The following day, I received a call from a manager who works under the two owners. I sought clarification on the process and the relevant laws concerning dual residency. However, before I could fully explain my question, she accused me of trying to break the law. I calmly clarified that I was merely trying to understand the rules. At no point did I raise my voice, curse, or act disrespectfully toward her. Despite this, her tone and demeanor were unnecessarily rude and dismissive.
What I found most troubling was the stark contrast in how customers were treated. I observed Caucasian customers being served respectfully, while Black customers were met with additional stipulations and scrutiny. The owner, who had been kind and accommodating the previous day—even offering us a discount—was a stark contrast to the manager’s behavior.
Ultimately, I decided to cancel my order and requested a confirmation. When the manager brought the cancellation details, she curtly informed me it would take a few days and wished me "a good day." As I was walking away, she loudly and rudely called out, in front of other customers, that my fiancé needed to update his information if he wanted to buy from them. Her unprofessionalism was appalling. I responded by thanking her for the poor customer service and noted I had never been treated this way before.
The manager, Christie, demonstrated a complete lack of empathy and professionalism. Had she approached the situation with basic respect, I would have proceeded with the purchase. Her behavior not only ruined the experience but also reflected poorly on...
Read moreUnsolicited Review on buying tools or doing business with Bullfrog Corner Pawn & Guns
Bottom Line Up Front: Outstanding place to shop for tools with an owner and staff willing to go the distance. I recommend anyone hunting for tools or looking to add or upgrade items in their shop come here first.
All the tools have worked as well as if I had purchased new, and unlike a Craigslist or some other pawn shop, the staff is knowledgeable and take the time to answer any reasonable request or offer. Unlike other places within minutes of Bullfrog Corner, they truly appreciate the customer. This is not a price versus service business; the owner and his staff ensure you have both.
I have shopped many pawn shops in Memphis & North Mississippi, and Bullfrog Corner is the best of breed if you are looking to purchase tools. This shop is often my first and last stop. I try to stop by once a week at minimum just to see what new stock they have put out or see if some hard to find tools have become available. Over the last 12 months, I've purchased the following items from there, all at a very low affordable price: Laminate Trim Router, Compact/Palm Router, 1/2" Mid-to-Heavy Duty Router, Router Table, Dowel Jointer, Plate/Biscuit Jointer, Jig Saw, Circular Saw, Oscillating Sander, Oscillating Multi-Tool, Pocket Drill, Small Ripsaw/Versacut, 15 Gauge Finish Nailer, 18 Gauge Air Nailer/Stapler, 18 Gauge Crown Stapler, 23 Gauge Pin Nailer, Quick Clamps, Several Rasps & Wrenches. Every single tool priced well below comparative offerings at other shops, and each tool works well, not ratty or broke as soon as I get back home.
Do your wallet a serious favor. Go here first when you need anything from a wrench to a...
Read moreI would like to share my recent experience with an employee named Andy Woodward, which unfortunately left a negative impression of the business. During a discussion on Facebook regarding some unsatisfactory experiences at the store, Mr. Woodward mentioned me and stated that he had searched my name in the system. He then claimed that no one in my family had ever shopped there, offering neither an apology nor any constructive explanation.
This approach not only undermined the validity of my concerns but also implied that individuals sharing a surname are automatically linked in their shopping history, which is both unfounded and inappropriate. Furthermore, using personal information accessed from the company database in response to a social media conversation raises serious questions about professionalism and customer care.
Overall, I was disappointed by the handling of my feedback and the dismissive attitude displayed. It is essential for businesses to acknowledge customer experiences with empathy rather than attempting to negate them through unfounded assumptions. I hope that this feedback encourages improvements in customer service practices...
